Driving from Cooperstown to EWR there arenât a whole lot of great eating options as you wind through small town upper NY state. But as you wind down NY-17 there is a gem of a diner in Liberty. I came across it by accident, hungry and willing to do the fast food options. But like a beacon of light was a diner, the parking lot full on an early Sunday night, which assured me that this was the place I wanted to eat. It did not disappoint with a full diner menu of sandwiches and dinners (and a salad bar!). Great service, excellent diner food. Worth jumping off the highway to enjoy.

We were on our way back to Westchester from Binghamton and were traveling by Liberty around lunchtime. We looked on TripAdvisor and the New Munson diner had wonderful reviews so figured weâd give it a shot. We are glad we did! Itâs a totally renovated old diner that sits up on a hill. Itâs not just diner food though, they serve a lot of delicious authentic greek fare. Itâs a family owned and operated business. They are lovely people and will literally make you feel at home. Whether you live in the area or youâre on the road looking for a brief respite, the New Munson diner is absolutely worth the stop.
