Looking for a great meal with great service for a reasonable price at a Deadwood restaurant? Look no further than Mavericks in the Gold Dust Casino! Enjoy fantastic food and an awesome atmosphere. Originally from Aberdeen, SD, South Dakotaâs famous Maveri
We ate at Mavericks twice, the service was great as was the atmosphere. It's in a casino so don't complain about the noise. The gunslinger rolls as an appetizer are the bomb, i'm looking for a recipe for them so I can try and duplicate them. I had steaks both nights and they were great as were accouterments. My wife had a good steak one night and a pork chop the other night that was terrible and that is only reason for not giving 5 stars. Next time in town we will eat here again.Hello! Thank you for sharing this review with us. I am pleased that your meals with us were tasty; the gunslinger rolls are an absolute staple! I am sorry to hear that your wife disliked the bacon wrapped pork chops! I will pass this review along to our Chef. We also hope you will visit us again next time you are in town and appreciate your patronage. Thank you for the great review!

My husband and I stayed in the Hickok House Hotel connected to this restaurant. We enjoyed several meals here after busy days around town. The prices are great, and the food is even better!

A wicked restaurant/bar in Lead. Motorcycles and hot rods parked outside. A furnace for when it gets cold. Great pulled pork burger.

Providing the very best in hospitality since 1909, the Latchstring Restaurant is a wonderful place to enjoy a meal surrounded by the beauty of Spearfish Canyon!
We stopped at the Latchstring for a quick lunch while driving the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway. The menu had a good selection of sandwiches and large lunch salads. The made from scratch soup of the day (that day it was a delicious creamy curried chicken and rice) with corn cakes was an ample light lunch considering I wanted something sweet from the desert menu as well. There are several desert items, all made fresh on the premises. I chose the apple dumpling and was not disappointed with the whole baked apple wrapped in flaky pastry. It was perfect. The blueberry pie came with two huge scoops of what had to be home made vanilla ice cream. Delicious! It was a little expensive for a lunch for two ($45US) but the food was very good and they really don't have any competition in the area and you can't put a price on the view of the canyon from the dining room.

Casual Elegance at an Amazing Price.
Visited the restaurant 2 yearâs ago - was so good that I had to go there for a second visit the next day. Then came back this year again. Athmosphere ok, but the steak only average, not juice but tasting ok, vegetables cold. Absolutely eatable, but a place not to visit more than once.

We came in for a late lunch at the recommendation of the bartender at Dakota Shivers Brewing taproom. We ordered the Bauenwurst platter which came with two bauenwurst sausages, a huge pile of German fries, brown gravy and some of the best red sauerkraut i've ever had. My husband and I shared the platter with an extra helping of sauerkraut and we had plenty of food. I had asked for gluten free and was happy to hear that their gravy was thickened with cornstarch. Service was friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend this place!

Family friendly restaurant and saloon located in a historic building.
We chose this restaurant based on the comment from TripAdvisor- I must update some. The menu wasnât as variety as it mentioned- it was quite simple instead. When we visited, even at 5PM, no dessert was availableI. The menu overall was very simple. Soup, salad and some meat oriented like burger and steak. Very typical local food. Even no pasta. And all cutlery and places were disposal. Paper plates, plastic utensils, paper up and plastic straws - the size may be smaller than other South Dakota restraints. We appreciate you stopping in on the 4th of July which is our busiest day of the year. The only day of the year we use plastic silverware and paper plates, also a day we run a limited menu so we can keep up with business. See our daily menu on our Facebook page.

Everything on the internet states this place is open on Mondays. We have been wanting to try this place so we drove up July first about 4:00 PM. Door locked, place closed. Several other potential customers were also parked in the parking lot wondering why it was closed. Unbelievable they treat customers like this. We won't be coming back. The least they could have done was put a note on the door saying they were sorry they were closed.

Got there a little after 1 in the afternoon. Pretty packed parking lot but we found a place to park. Got seated within a few minutes. Waited for 20 minutes and still hadn't been waited on. The table behind us got seated a few minutes after us. My brother mentioned that they had been waited on so I turned around to look. Yup, they had drinks and had placed their order. We got up and left. The food smelled pretty good when we walked past where they were cooking it, sure wish we would have gotten to taste it! All this after I had told my brother that they were famous for their Indian tacos. Thought I might complain and try to get waited on but...I'm not going to beg a business to let me spend my money at their establishment!
