Reviews on American food in Lafayette, Louisiana, United States. Founded by the Acadians in the 19th century, the legacy of Louisiana's French, Spanish and Caribbean ancestors comes together in Lafayette, creating a city with, amongst other things, a vast selection of restaurants serving everything from spicy po'boys to crawfish etouffee. With its lively street festivals, impromptu Zydeco concerts, historic plantations and food markets where locals still order their plate lunches in Louisiana French, Lafayette is the heart of Cajun country.

This is a new restaurant that opened the first week of 2010.
Before coming, I read the various reviews stating incredibly long waits and staff that seemed unconcerned for anyoneâs needs. Thankfully, I cannot say that we had that type of experience when we stopped in on a Saturday morning for breakfast. Your mileage will vary (hopefully it wont). Cajun Benedict looked interesting, so we ordered it. It came out of the kitchen in a reasonable amount of time (not fast, but not incredibly long). I thought it was pretty tasty and had good flavor, but admittedly Iâm not overly fluent in the local cuisine to determine how it stacks up vs. other similar items at another place.

a hip, innovative place to enjoy locally sourced cuisine, hand-crafted specialty cocktails and real Southern hospitality.
I really enjoyed the sweet potato and regular biscuits. The sesame butter, marmalade, and Maple cane sugar wee awesome. The strawberry jam was good. The salad with crispy quinoa was good. The dressing was great. The curry tomato soup was very good as well as the Mac and cheese. The fries and spicy mayo were great.

Love the decor and the setup of this restaurant. Great service from the time you enter to the time you leave. Food is spectacular. Great flavor and properly proportioned. My only complaint was that it was noisy. Everyone seemed to be talking so loud as to talk over the table next to them which made the place loud.Thank you for your review! Yes, it can get noisy when we are slammed, such as when we have a pre-concert crowd. It is not typically that loud. Thanks again for your wonderful review of our food, service and decor!Steve S. DON'S SEAFOOD More Than Eighty Years of Exceptional Seafood South Louisiana locals and visitors have been drawn to DON'S authentic Cajun cuisine for more than 80 years. Menu selections including traditional Landry family recipes, and more recent original
I was looking forward to visiting Don's after an absence of at least a year. It's just that...it holds nostalgic value for many travelers like myself (and Lafayette residents) but doesn't really measure up in seafood quality. My shrimp gumbo was just muddy water, it would appear, with a few morsels of tiny shrimp. The seafood platter featured small shrimp in a variety of preparations, but with the common ground of....average, at best. It was all bland and tepid. A disappointment. On the bright side, drinks were stiff and service was attentive. I wish Don's delivered on quality to match the semi-steep prices and the expectations of first-rate food.

Johnson's Boucaniere continues the Johnson family tradition of making Boudin, sausages, and tasso's once sold at the original Johnson's Grocery (since 1937. Add to that outstanding smoked pulled pork, brisket, and chicken and other smoked meats and charcu
After reading about Johnsonâs Boucaniere from multiple sources, I had to try it myself. I was delighted. An unpretentious place to get a delicious sandwich is what I discovered. Rather than recommend one, I suggest that you look over the menu and choose the one that most entices you. I ended my visit by purchasing some smoked sausage and boudin to take home.

The crawfish omelet is excellent! The omelet was hugh and packed with crawfish. Definitely the best item on the menu. The smothered rabbit was also excellent. Can't get food like that up north. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Only reason no 5 star rating was because most of the sides were just so so.

a Lafayette favorite known for grilling aged beef & fresh Louisiana seafood over southern hardwoods in a casual yet upscale atmosphere.
Charley G's has become mine and my husbands favorite special occasion dinner destination. Sure the food is on the expensive side, but I find it worth every penny and never leave disappointed. I love that they have seasonal menus and I find their dishes are definitely high end and inspired. The staff are so kind and welcoming and have great recommendations. The atmosphere is relaxed and doesn't feel pretentious. I have attended one of their "tasting" events which was so much fun. Loved learning about a local rum brand and sampling cocktails and small plates. I would recommend this restaurant to locals and visitors alike.Michelle, Thank you so much for taking the time to review us. We really appreciate your kind words. I look forward to sharing this with our team and we look forward to serving you again. Thanks again.

We may not take ourselves seriously, but we always take our food seriously. Generic is our mortal enemy.A truly American restaurant always has an opinion. At Zea, we state ours confidently, unapologetically and with a little swagger and laughter. Maybe it'
We like going to Zea for their salads. They have several choices and we have tried them all. They are a large portion and make a whole meal by their self. Add a glass of wine and you're set.The staff are always very friendly and courteous. We adore our salads! Thank you for sharing! We look forward to your next visit.
