Drove to Terra Alta to watch a friend play music and was early. So my husband and I decided to go ahead and eat. Was welcomed as we entered an told to sit anywhere we liked. We chose the bar. The building was formerly Model T Ford factory so a lot of the decor is of the pictures of the owner and vintage items. Even the sinks in the bathrooms were different. Bartender took our drink orders and brought us back menus. Everything looked inviting and we both chose the steaks. They came with a house salad that was a little heavy on the bell peppers and could have used bacon bits and croutons. All in all the salads were good. While we were waiting for the main course, a gentleman from the dining area had to come to the bar to get a beer. Not sure where his server was. Our steaks finally arrived, and they were cooked just how we ordered them. Had to pay for bread to go along with it- 0.25 per piece and were crispy, grilled slices of Italian bread. We had 6 slices. My plate came with seasonal veggies that had garlic and butter plus thick cut fries. I requested some brown gravy to dip them in, gravy was extra as well. My husbandâs plate came with a double order of mashed potatoes as he is not a fan of seasonal veggies. The food was delicious and they have a full bar plus craft beer on tap. A bit pricey but well worth it. But the moral to the story should focus on where you sit. If you really want excellent service, sit at the bar, plus you never run out of drinks.
Food and wine great, wonderful settimg. The owner, Bill Bjorkman, is a real character and terrific chef. We'll be back. Worth the trek from Morgantown (or even from Pittsburgh or DC,) Beautiful West Virginia forests and mointains everywhere. You might even see a bear on the road into the restaurant (as my son did).
The Trellis Cafe is a charming but small facility with very limited seating. It doubles as the gift shop for the Modern Homestead at Tatham's complex (greenhouse, coffee shop, guest house, & gift shop) and only serves coffee and fresh home-made bakery items; except for featured monthly dinners. The monthly dinners are created and freshly homemade in-house by talented Cook De Cuisine, Trellis Smith, one of the owners. There are basically three seatings for dinner and by reservation only. The dinner is served in the very intimate and cozy quarters of the tiny cafe/gift shop. The food is farm-fresh and outstanding. The service is excellent. The Trellis Cafe serves no liquor, but diners are encouraged to bring and enjoy their own wine with dinner, if they so desire. We thoroughly enjoyed the dinner experience and will definitely make this a regular event!!

Located between Reedsville and Kingwood on Route 7, Smokin Jacks is a great bar & grill. A testament to their quality and history, they just opened up a second location in Morgantown less than 2 months ago. This Reedsville location has been here for decades and welcomes all visitors. Great service at the bar, nice selection of domestic beer (cans and bottles only; also have Big Timber IPA 16 oz cans); good choices of spirits; excellent pepperoni rolls and BBQ. A good destination when traveling these country roads.

I don't eat here much because of the slow service. The food is usually good but I also have eaten here a few times in the past year and haven't got exactly what I ordered. I've watched employees scuffle back and forth and think that maybe they don't have enough help on hand during their busiest times. Once while I was there a few months ago I waited almost 20 minutes for our meal for 3 people. There were 2 people working the frontline at the time and several people at drivethru and inside. When I asked why it was taking so long the cashier said that one of the employees was on break. I would think at a busy time like that (6:00ish) they wouldn't have someone on break or they would have more workers at that time. Anyway, very frustrating when it is considered a fast food restaurant.

Restaurant and Lodging
One of our party had just come from London and compared the night's special to their London experience. Conclusion: Preston Country Inn's were better!

This restaurant is older and needs updating but the food it good. Watch parking upfront parking spaces are short. Parking around to side of restaurant is better.

I live in the small town of Kingwood where Monroes is located, and eat there at least once a week for lunch or dinner. The food is consistently good, and the staff is fabulous. The menu is extensive, and they have daily lunch and dinner specials. The prices are excellent for the quality of food and service. I will continue to frequent this establishment for years to come!!
