I was traveling through Kanab between hiking trips. I actually ate here for dinner one evening and for lunch the next day -- because it is a safe choice. I didn't want to risk getting a stomach ache (or worse) like happened at a restaurant a few days before and not too far from here.

This is our second stay in Kanab, and when we visited here a few years ago, Nedras Too was our favorite restaurant, so we chose to eat here our first night when we returned. Sadly the service was poor, the food was expensive, and there were pesky flies bothering us at our table. It took an unusually long time for the food to arrive. Once the food arrived it was good, but we were so irritated with the long wait, flies, and high prices that we chose to not return for any other meals on our one week stay in Kanab.

Staying at Parry Lodge in Kanab, Utah, then having breakfast or lunch in the dining room filled with photographs of the dozens of stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood who also stayed and ate there...well, it's like having a meal at the MGM commissary with Clark Gable sitting at the head of the table. There's no evidence that Gable ever stayed here, or Spencer Tracy, either, but it's fun to guess the Hollywood stars who didn't stay here because most of them did...Wayne, Sinatra, Peck, Ladd, Portier, Heston, Eastwood, Gardner, Ford, De Havilland, Scott, Shariff, Garner, Power, O'Hara, Martin, Stanwyck. Well, you get the point. At breakfast, my wife and I had oatmeal, fresh fruit, hash browns, toast, Eggs Benedict with English muffin, ham, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce and French toast, four pieces with sausage. For lunch, we enjoyed the all-you-can-eat soup and salad bar, then tackled two signature sandwiches, the Western Bacon Burger with 1/2 pound of beef topped with bacon, cheese, onion rings and BBQ sauce and the Big Ed with 1/2 pound of beef patty, Philly Cheesesteak meat, veggies and Swiss cheese on a burger bun with Atomic BBQ sauce and an extra napkin. Most of the Hollywood stars are gone now but you just hope that one of them will show up at the salad bar.

Smoked BBQ, The only Bar in Southern Utah, friendly hospitality, outdoor seating, good food and live music!
We happened to stop in when the rodeo was in town, so I will cut them some slack with their customer service, but we waited at our table for soooo long without anyone taking our order. Then they were out of ribs and some other meat. The food we had was ok, but not worth the wait.Thank you for coming in and it was a crazy busy week that week. Please come back so we can give you the best service and food.

Small town fare and homemade pies. Decent variety of options. Full meals or burger fare. Service was fairly quick but would disappear just when we needed drink refills. Ribs were great. The rest of the food was pretty good. Would eat here again.

Small interior dining but a large heated patio. Interesting apps. We had the beet slices with marzipan balsamic and pistachio. Followed it up with a artichoke, mushroom, cheese and pepper thin crust pizza. Both were excellent. Beer, wine and mixed drinks all excellent.

Used to be better. Needs more attention to smaller details. For example, meat comes hot and tasty, while potatoes and green vegetables look like they were cooked yesterday. Now pricey for overall quality. Very friendly service.

American style dining with several gluten-free dishes marked, so safe for celiacs. Good ingredients, well cooked and served in a pleasant location. Smart personnel and friendly, helpful service. Obviously very popular with local people â the servers seemed to know almost everyone!

Our server, Jessica, was awesome. She was very attentive and very friendly. My husband had ahi tuna salad and I had beet salad with shrimp. Both were superb!

Who would have guessed that there was fine dining in Kanab? This place is interesting and classy but not snooty. It starts with the friendly greeting and great service. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable but does not require getting dressed up, although you could. The entrees are small plates intended to be shared but you could easily order a couple for yourself. For our visit, we ordered the shrimp, mushrooms, falafel, a sort of corn fritter and a tofu dish. All of these were delicious! Plan to visit again when I am back in the area.
