Dating from 1879, the historic Imperial Hotel in Amador City offers casual elegance in indoor and patio dining to visitors and local residents alike. This family-owned and operated establishment takes pride in featuring organic, locally grown produce, fre
By our best estimates this year was the 14th year we have returned to the Imperial Hotel. It all started when our daughter enrolled at the University of the Pacific in Stockton and we decided we preferred to stay in Amador County wine country rather than Stockton while visiting her. That daughter, her younger sister, their significant others and some of their friends, plus a few of our friends, managed to occupy all 9 of the rooms including the three large suites across the street. Most years we can only fill the six rooms in the hotel but our annual trek each spring has become so popular that we outdid ourselves this year. Of course I am biased. I love old hotels. The creaky floor boards are music to my ears. Sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine overlooking Route 49, listening to the chirping frogs, hearing the cries of the hawks in the sky, the occasional warbling of wild turkeys are all so peaceful. Some people want to fall asleep to waves crashing on the beach. I will take gurgling creeks and frogs any day. Over the years I have concluded that this hotel is not for everyone. There is no elevator. There is no phone. There is no TV. But there is hot coffee in the hallway every morning at 7:00 am and a hot breakfast served each day like a B&B. Frankly I just as soon keep this place to myself. It is a great launching off point for visiting the local wineries and for getting to Sutter Creek and to Plymouth for its variety of restaurants. As this area increases in popularity I am sure new hotels and B&B's will open. Regardless of that "progress", we will be here. There is a reason why every year we come back.

My wife and I went to dinner at Hotel Sutter restaurant recently while on vacation in area. We decided to stay in town instead of traveling and settled on this restaurant. It is very large restaurant and they sat us by window. They turned off the misters for us since it was not too hot when we went. Menu is selection of appetizers, salads, burgers and entrees. I had the chicken marsala and it was very good. My wife had veggie selection which was also very good. Great service - very attentive and friendly. They let us bring our own wine for small corkage. Solid choice with great service.

We stopped in for a late lunch, and we so impressed by the quality and tastiness of the food that we bypassed our hotel's breakfast just so we could eat there again before leaving Jackson. The menu was creative with fresh farm to table ingredients used throughout. Fresh is my new favorite flavor! All the servers were friendly and happy to answer touristy questions. And, if you know how to play the piano, a few minutes of fame awaits you!Thank you, rvhfl. We have as good a time serving you as you do dining with us! Please remember we are here and come again. Our Brunch menu changes often. If you are interested in learning more about our farm, the next Farm Dinner is August 10. We have limited seating and by reservation only. Call for details, 209.257.0227. Again, thank you for the stellar review.

All American Cafe. Servicing breakfast, lunch and Friday Burger Bash. Come and taste the various flavors of ice cream and have a slice of home made pie.
So we were out looking for food on a rainy Christmas Eve. It was lunch... so there were a few things open. Buffalo Chips makes what may be the best cheese sandwich I have ever eaten in my life. I am old, there have been lots of cheese sandwiches. From this point forward Iâll humbly proclaim that all cheese sandwiches should be made on challah bread. The chips and salad on the side were also awesome. The staff was friendly. The decor was cute. Stop in if you can. Share the sandwich... unless you are starving it was a lot.

Had a turkey sandwich with fries for lunch. Fries were battered and great, sandwich was also great with bacon, sprouts, and avocado. Warning, you might consider splitting this as it was too much for me to handle, a good problem. Soups were also good, service lacking, slow.

Met my friend for breakfast. Took a long time for wait person to take our orders. Ordered the "Farmer" breakfast which was a spinach frittata, sausage and potatoes. Waited for another very long time - had to ask twice where food was. When finally served, I took one bite of everything and wouldn't/couldn't eat any more because all was overcooked and dry. The sausage was almost burnt. My friend had the same experience. When we brought this up, they gave us a whopping 10% off. Really? When I also mentioned to hostess as we were leaving, she said they received a sub batch of meat from their distributor and then she shrugged. Again, really? No apologies, no nothing. Why would they even serve it if it was substandard? And they were expensive. Not going back there.
Stopped in for a bite to go. The gal behind the counter was cheerful and very helpful. She asked if I wanted my sandwich toasted and I declined because it dries out the bread. Then she offered to warm the meat in the microwave and it was so much better that way. I asked for the works and she even gave me a bit of spinach. Just a pleasant time and a little extra that made my day.
The new Harrah's Casino recently opened in Ione, CA. We decided to take a ride out there and try the resturant for lunch. Resturant is billed as upscale on the website. Inside the bar area is inviting and there are several TV screens to watch sports. Outside dining area also looked appealing, but it was to hot to sit outside the day we visited. Kudos to the builder for putting it on the view side of the property. The rest of the resturant looks like a typical coffee shop at any casino. The menu had a nice selection though a little pricey for lunch in that area. Most sandwiches $12 - $20 which includes french fries. Equally high priced for the apps, salad and add ons. You can check out the menu on line.We were disappointed in the service and some of the food. As a disclaimer we shared some of this with management and they did comp my Shrimp Louie - for what it was. So lets start with that. You get 6 shrimp (they are the same for all shrimp dishes) in the appetizer which is $15, but on the salad which is also $15 you only get three. The salad is the size of a dinner salad, not Louie sized and there where no Heirloom tomatoes as advertised, only pear tomatoes, 3 which had been cut in half. 1 hard boiled egg cut in half, nothing else. Boring salad. There is no bread or crackers served with the salad. We also had the Calamari sandwich, which was excellent. We requested the lemon aioli on the side, but it never appeared. Also we asked if we could substitute onion rings for French fries and the server said yes. She failed to mention there was an upcharge of $3, which probably wouldn't have been a problem if she would have mentioned it. One of my pet peeves, staff who do not tell you upfront about upcharges.I ordered a glass of wine, which they did not have behind the bar and they told me they had to go to the warehouse to get it. OK - but I never saw the bottle, only someone bring the glass of wine from the back room. I like to see what I am drinking poured from the bottle. So all that said, we wouldn't make a special trip out there to eat, but if your meal is comped - the food was good.
Secret hotspot of Amador County boasting the best down home cooking around! Large portions of classic comfort breakfast foods, along with great burgers and sandwiches for lunch!
The food was fabulous! It is a quaint family-operated establishment. They work hard & make sure patrons are pleased. Quality is A+. I've never had eggs that tasted so good. A must for those venturing out & don't want to travel too far. Cheers for them!! Great bunch.
The prices seem right and food looks great. We just stopped in for dessert so I can only speak about the ice cream cones and drinks. I ordered two small vanilla cones. The congenial man taking the order said they only have one size. Because of the price I figured it would be about right. Wrong! They were very tall. They were expertly made and held together until we couldn't eat any more. The sodas were on par too. I will be back for their burgers and dogs.
