It is the county seat of Beadle County. Huron was the home of now-defunct Huron University (known in its later years as Si Tanka University). The Huron Plainsman, also referred to as the Plainsman, is the newspaper. The first settlement at Huron was made in 1880. The city was named after the Huron Indians. It is currently the ninth largest city in South Dakota, but it once was the fourth. Huron was in the running for capital of South Dakota but lost out to Pierre due to Pierre's positioning.

High Priced but Delicious ice cream, didn't stop this time but have stopped passing through before. A little stuffy- about not letting people enter while wet- understandably so in a swimming suit for impropriety sake but youngens under a certain age should be exempt.I appreciate the opportunity to reply to the comments about the price of our ice cream and our swimming suits policy.Ice Cream- Our ice cream is made at SDSU (South Dakota State University) in Brookings. It is made with whole products meaning real cream and no fillers. When you purchase some other brands they are pumped full of air and other artififual products to give it some fill. So hence with other products your purchase price includes some air. Swimming suits - We have struggled through the years on the correct way to meet the needs of all of our customers. We have people that come in very nice dress clothes and then swimmers from the beach. We do provide plastic chairs just for the purpose of wet swimming suits. We do ask all of our customers that have been on the beach to have a towel covering around the mid section. We hope that this address your concerns raised in the previous review.

Ate at the sports bar...good burgers and a decent selection of beers. Good wait staff. Portions were slightly less than expected...could use a few more fries in the baskets. Forgot to get a picture with the giant pheasant!

Weâve been to this restaurant a few times in the past and it has quickly become a go-to place for some pub/grub food. The place has its regulars and its newcomers during hunting season and has really picked up the pace well. The food is basic but well prepared with just the right seasoning and spices. Overall, after a busy day, it is a great place to go and relax and be served.

Stayed at the hotel and this restaurant is part of it although maybe under separate management.It was raining very hard so walking the town was not an option.However, we were very pleased with the uality of the food and the service.

Leave your expectations at the door. Manolis defies them. We were initially leery. A few tables sandwiched in between racks of liquor and assorted shelf stable groceries. The purveyors have a friendly but âweâll get to you when we get to youâ air. There is no produce in sight; not even lettuce or tomato for the sandwiches. We had unloaded all seven of us, though, and the kids were hungry. So, we were staying, but I thought we were headed for a one or two-star review for sure.And then the sandwiches came. They are absolutely delicious. All of our adults got open-faced, toasted sandwiches. Whatever they do to them, they come out amazing.
