Food did not come out together with no explaination. When we asked, the server just said okay and walked off. Came back with the rest a few minutes later. It was odd but food was still good

My husband and I were starving pretty early in the morning and needing a really good breakfast. We were traveling through and happened upon Cafe Texan thanks to some internet searches and man, it did not disappoint! It was like stepping back into a time capsule of the places I want to as a girl, that made real southern breakfast. The waitress smiled when I asked if the grits were real and answered "of course" and proceeded to take my custom order. I had asked for decaf coffee, which apparently people typically don't ask for, but she brewed up a fresh pot and brought me a perfect, steaming hot cup. I mention all this because I see some reviews that say they aren't as accommodating to travelers, which was the opposite of what I experienced. Perhaps because we were grateful and I was obviously excited to have the food offerings I grew up on...as they say, attitude is everything! Our breakfast was cooked perfectly and ready in a flash. It was so good, we might even go out of our way to come here if/when we are back in the area!

Stopped by on the drive from Dallas to Houston on a Saturday for lunch after reading about the place online. It's a cute little dive just a few minutes off the highway. Our table ordered the BBQ potato, Pot Roast potato, and Philly Cheesesteak potato. All were wonderful! Menu has a ton of options and food was ready quickly.

Visited with friends from out-of-town for lunch. Two of us had soup & half a sandwich (Tuna), one had shrimp tacos and the other had a club sandwich. Good portions and very tasty. Finished off with fried pie (blueberry, peach, apple and apricot). Service by Maggie was excellent. We eat here about every other week and always have a good experience. Nothing fancy, it is a converted candy shop with plain tables & chairs. Locally owned.

Nothing here is a standout great dish, but everything here is very good. My favorites are the sausage and brisket, but I've never had anything here that I disliked. They also have free beans with every order. These are classic slow-cooked ranch-style beans that are great. Highly recommend McKenzie's!

1836 Steakhouse and Grill is located in an 1870's Italianate Villa-style home in the historic city of Huntsville. Served daily are USDA Choice and Prime steaks, seafood, and pasta. Wednesday night is prime rib night. Lunch menu features 10 entrees under $
We were part of a group of 15 who dined at the 1836 Steakhouse for dinner. Prior to the majority of the group arriving, a couple of us had drinks in the upstairs bar and dining area. The service was friendly and attentive. Once downstairs and with our group, the service continued to be friendly and highly competent. Most members of the group had a steak entree, and all were pleased with their selections. I had the pepper filet with onion rings and it was outstanding. This is a great venue for entertaining fairly large groups.

We ate in the bar twice during our stay in Huntsville. Outside of a significant roof leak during a pop-up rain storm - everything here was great. We loved the Orange & Bleu burger and the BearKat Cheerleader burger. Great Burgers & Great fries.Cold Dos Equis - Good Times!

We visited at the height of lunch hour and the service was good compared to how busy the wait staff was. The place was clean. The food, however, was average. I will say the portions for the childrenâs plates are huge for the prices. I wouldnât go out of the way to go here, but it is an option for clean food and good service if youâre in the area.

I usually avoid ribs at bbq places....they are usually too greasy or tough and stringy. The ribs at Bennie J's are done to perfection. These ribs are moist without being greasy. Put the rib in your mouth and the meat just falls off....now that's tender! Not a fancy place but the food is good and the folks are friendly. You order and pay at the counter and your order is brought to you. You get a cup and fill your own drink.
