Things to do in Hawthorne
It is in the Hawthorne Square Shopping Center. The staff was very friendly and quick with our order. They have the best Sweet Tea. The restroom was very clean. This subway is close to Hawthorne bike trail. Great place to get food after your ride.
This very nice small clean fish camp & RV park is great for camping also rent cabins out and of course great fishing. It has a nice little bait shop with small line of groceries & cold beer along with a small diner that serves up great food and friendly services.
Come enjoy fresh wraps, salads, burgers, po' boys, cat fish and jumbo shrimp.
So much more than just wraps tho the wraps are super creative. Good food, flavors, freshness, friendly and style but still casual. Seafood comes to Hawthorne. Shrimps, chicken, 1/2 pound Angus burgers, wings, kids menu, beer and wine - in a fun atmosphere. Great flavor combinations with New Orleans flair & more. I had a bangin' shrimp appetizer with an in-house made siracha aoli - divine, shrimp po boy on a French roll with in-house made sauce, and a hornet burger, etoles (never had this before) - delicious, cole slaw, I didn't try the seasoned fries but they looked fabulous. Chef Ed uses the best ingredients he can get and this food is not run of the mill, it's delicious. Service was very welcoming, friendly and attentive on a hoppin' Monday lunchtime. The atmosphere is comfortable casual, tables inside and bar stool seating around the perimeter - you can watch the kitchen or take a stool looking out the windows. The outdoor patio has tables and umbrellas under a pergola with white lights, very festive! The website has the full menu posted and I'm told there are specials and on the weekends live music coming. What a treat.

My sisters and I were in Hawthorne today. We wanted a good lunch, so we decided to try PJ's Cafe located in the shopping center on Highway 301. We were so glad we did. The cafe has an old-time charm that Hawthorne is well known for. We all ordered burgers with coleslaw. All 3 of us agree the food was very good. However, we weren't asked how well we wanted our burgers cooked, and frankly, we forgot to specify the degree of doneness They arrived well done. Looking back, medium well might have been a tad juicier. We accept responsibility for not specifying but.. we weren't asked. The coleslaw was especially good and we were told it is made on site. It was creamy and crunchy. Yum! The owner greeted us, took our orders and provided excellent customer service. The cafe was clean, the staff friendly and the food very good!! There are a lot of choices on the menu, The food that was being brought out to other people all looked excellent! I wanted one of these, one of those, some of that..... We would go back for sure.

Having said that, we did not have BarBQ. Chopped steak was tough and had no flavor. Mashed potatoes were cold. Cornbread was too sweet. Local diners were so loud you could hear every word. Hopefully, their BarBQ is worth it.

I've been here several times, and never been disappointed. We took a friend there for her first visit, and she declared it her favorite restaurant. Great ambience, history, and service. Very good food every time. Home made. Tasty.Thank you so much for your kind words! We are really happy you like our little place!
