Situated at roughly 2,500 feet (760 m) elevation in the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, this historic northern Gold Country city is 57 miles (92 km) by car from the state capitol in Sacramento, 64 miles (103 km) from Sacramento International Airport, 88 miles (142 km) west of Reno, Nevada, and 177 miles (285 km) northeast of San Jose. As of the 2010 United States Census, its population was 12,860.

There are few organic dining spots in the Grass Valley-Nevada City area. We decided to stop at Valentina's for breakfast to check it out. The menu is limited. We ordered an oatmeal with fruit-very good, a cheese and sausage quesadilla-yummy, and a cheese omelette-made in a waffle maker and a bit over done. The limited breakfast menu has a Mexican flavor. The place is very friendly and had a number of regulars that morning. We will be back, though not for the cheese omelette.

If you blink you may miss this little spot in downtown Grass Valley. We find that the food is usually well prepared and tasty, with a definite "home-style" feel. The atmosphere is very basic and dated, but always clean. The service is entirely dependent on the staff present at the time and can be less than stellar. Worth a stop if you are in the immediate area and want something close. Not worth a trip downtown for a meal.

Wonderful find for a lunch spot. Small, intimate place with seating inside and outside. The food was really tasty and we are looking forward to returning. Sandwiches and salads were all very good and a free apple cupcake for the birthday celebrant.

Had reservations Christmas Eve for a family dinner. It was crazy busy. Had to wait 35 minutes past our reservation time while sitting at the bar being entertained by the two bar tenders. Made the time go by quickly and excellent cocktails. Kitchen was overwhelmed but wait staff made adjustments and accommodations to smooth the wait. Food was excellent and worth the wait. All around a very merry evening and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kane's to anyone passing through Grass Valley.

I had probably had the best corned beef hash ever!! Wife had ham and eggs and a fruit cup and biscuit.My corned beef hash was cooked perfectly ,crispy and very tasty. Most restaurants donât take the time to cook it properly on the grill with a nice crust.Everything was outstanding. Excellent menu for all meals.This is a place I will place on my list of favorites!

My husband and I made reservations for ourselves on a Friday. The restaurant was busy, but our table was ready and our server was on point! I had the sole that was on special and enjoyed every bite! My husband had the gorgonzola steak. We both enjoyed our meals immensely, loved the atmosphere, and the staff was delightful! Will be back! Thank you, ngremmy, for your 5 star review. Just came back from a day trip to Grass Valley. Based on reviews I stopped in for an early lunch. Had the bacon & blue burger - excellent! After the event I was attending, I went back for a late dinner and had the smoldering pine burger - even better!!! I couldn't resist trying the sweet potato fries. So glad I got them. They are thick, flavorful and nicely seasoned. I don't get burgers very often but if they all tasted like these I would. The bacon in itself was a treat. Service was friendly. A bit of a wait for dinner but they were busy and working hard so I didn't mind the wait. I wish they were in Reno but then again glad they aren't. It would be too tempting too eat too much too often!

I came, based on the good Trip Advisor reviews. Usually, they're pretty accurate. But not tonight.The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. I wanted to sit on the patio, but was told only inside seating was available (although half of the outside tables were empty). I was attended to promptly by both my waitress and a bus boy. I ordered the Cajun BBQ Prawns. I asked for the garlic (as a listed ingredient) to be light. The garlic was light, but anyone that has eaten real Cajun food in Louisiana would tell you is wasn't Cajun. Cajun cooking uses spices to enhance the flavor, not to be the flavor. I needed 3 diet Cokes and 2 glasses of water to calm the excessive spiciness down.So, I can't recommend this food item.
