It really is a shame that this fairly new (right around 2 years old) building/location is not kept up very well.We have visited for lunches and dinners and while daytime seems to be better managed, none of our visits have been above average. The tables are usually dirty even when they are not busy and should have staff to keep them cleaned. The tea in the dining room has been out at least 2 times when we have visited and we have had to have them fill our cups from behind the counter. During our last dinner visit, my husband was standing at the counter, waiting to get someone from the back to fill his cup and the manager was standing there on her facebook the whole time. She never looked up - someone else came and helped him. Today, we had lunch there and I ordered the turkey grand club with no mayo. When I got it, the meat was fallen out of the sandwich so I opened the bun to find a little blob of melted cheese (not sure where the rest of the piece of swiss was) and a couple small turkey shavings and a huge slab of turkey (must have been too small to shave off of so they threw it on my bun - see picture). I don't want a SLAB of turkey - I want it deli sliced, like it is supposed to be. This may be my last straw with this place.

54th Street was founded in Kansas City, MO by Thomas E. Norsworthy in 1989. He envisioned a place that would accommodate a consistently crowded dining room as well as a lively bar crowd, while offering the quality food and drinks that exceed national chai
Not fancy but the food is darned good. My wife and I will duck out there for dinner every now and then. Service is very good and so is the food. A great family place - a bit noisy and usually crowded (which means, I guess, that lots of people like it!).

I was here for a group party and they did a great job. Appetizers were great. The separate room was nice for group to have a little space to ourselves. The dinners were a couple of great choices. Everyone had a great time. Service was great, too. Thank you.

The food was not bad. The sausage had a good flavor, but wasnât really smoked. The brisket and burnt ends were nice. Ribs were not my thing but my wife really liked them. The Mac and cheese and potato salad were good. Service was also good.

We arrived near noon, but our wait was just a few minutes. There was a down home feel from the moment we entered: the building, the decor, the staff, everything was inviting. Our waitress was friendly, offered many suggestions, as this was our first visit, and she was right on the mark. The Pork Tenderloin Sandwich was so large we divided it in two, asked for extra bun, and the two sides were still too much to eat in one setting! We left no room at all for dessert.

Took our entire manager staff for a quick meeting and breakfast. Everything came out fast and plentiful! We have been here before and we will return. Keep up the good work!!

We ate here with our daughter. It is noisy. But, the food - especially the sides, was good. My steak was too thin to be medium rare as I requested. Services was exceptional and there is plenty of parking. Prices are very reasonable. But, be ready for the raucous atmosphere.

The pit beans here are pretty decent, a little on the spicy side. Every time that I have tried their burnt ends it has been a disappointment. They were basically burnt hockey pucks that they charge too much for. Zarda is an older name in Kansas City for BBQ, but there are many other places in and around the Kansas City area with much better BBQ.
The restaurant is a small hole in the wall however it has a wonderful variety of cheesesteaks. My family and I ate dinner here and it was wonderful. The owners were very friendly had had great suggestions since we had never been there before. I got the spicy cheesesteak, my wife got the teriyaki cheesesteak and my daughter got the chicken nuggets. We will eat here again

This old rural country general Store is now a BBQ place. Great Ribs, however call ahead to make sure they will have enough. Also they charge $2 to use credit, so bring cash. My family had ribs, brisket - moist, and the sausage sandwich (2x).
