Reviews on American food in Georgetown, South Carolina, United States. Brimming with historical attractions, boutique shops, antebellum mansions, restaurants, art galleries and antique shops, historic Georgetown offers a delightful escape from daily modern life. The oak-lined avenues of Georgetown, dubbed “little Charleston”, are alive with history and small town commerce. If you’ve ever wanted to see antebellum mansions, Georgetown is the place for you. There are an amazing 50-plus antebellum mansions in the area. One of the best ways to see Georgetown is by boat. Take a tour in and around Winyah Bay and the surrounding rivers and you’ll pass plantation mansions and long-abandoned rice fields. Two of the most visited plantations are Hopsewee Plantation and the Hampton Plantation State Historic Site. High on your list of local don’t miss attractions should be the Kaminski House Museum, the stately former home of a Confederate sea captain, and The Rice Museum, which details the history of this important crop through dioramas, maps, artifacts and other exhibits.
Other popular activities in the Georgetown area include golf, sailing charters, eco-tours, shell collecting, deep-sea fishing and beach activities at nearby beaches. If you want to tee up, try Wedgefield Plantation Golf Club and Heritage Club, which are less than 10 minutes from Georgetown.
Once you’ve geared down and de-stressed in slower paced Georgetown, you’ll have easy access to two dynamic destinations, Myrtle Beach, 36 miles away, and Charleston, 60 miles away. Myrtle Beach, known as America’s Great Golf Vacation Destination, offers more than 100 golf courses, 1,600 restaurants, shopping complexes, amusement parks and live entertainment theaters. Charleston, which is loaded with museums, Civil War sites and plantation homes and gardens, also has superb golf offerings highlighted by the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Resort.

Graham's Landing was recommended by the desk clerks at the Quality Inn we stayed at in Georgetown. Grouper was the fish of the day Thursday night and we opted for the sandwiches. They were lightly battered and fried with a delicate taste.Jessica gave us great service. Glad we tried them.

Expansive reasonably priced menu ranging from Braised Beet Salad (excellent) to burgers, Pizzas, fried or grilled seafood platters to salmon to a kid's menu. First time there and very pleasantly surprised. The new owner has truly transformed what had become a well worn menu and establishment...not fancy...indeed, very casual... but excellent service and very good food

Aunny's is right on front street in Georgetown, and it's the place to go if you're looking for a hole in the wall that serves homestyle southern soulfood. They've got the whole menu, but it changes daily with specials. The fried chicken was good, the sides were amazing, and the poundcake was devine. The decor is simple, but the food is oh-so-yummie. Aunny was right there hanging out with her granddaughter, and we could straight thank the cook through the kitchen window. We met a couple that regularly drives up from Charleston to eat here.

20 years in business and serving and incredible lunch everytime!!! From homemade chicken salad to homemade meatballs you don't want to miss us for lunch!
We ate here on Wednesday, 7/19 for lunch. For three of us, the total was about 34$ and included 3 sandwiches, sides and a drink. There is nothing fancy about the decor or the serving as the food comes on a styrofoam plate, but the fellow behind the counter was SUPER friendly and funny (and probably the owner?) and there were MANY locals there as evidenced by law enforcement and government employees, which is a GREAT sign! After we joked, our food was quickly ready and we ate outside on the back deck which overlooks the wharf. The only thing I'll mention about that is that at low tide the smell can be somewhat offputting, but on the other hand, if you are a history buff like I am, you can see a lot of old pottery shards and ballast bricks from ships scattered everywhere.I would return here again for lunch with NO hesitations - I liked the food, the service and the smiling, friendly faces. Two thumbs up from the Miller family!

Shopkeepers we met in town pointed us in the direction of this local hangout. We had excellent she-crab soup (not thickened broth but more like oyster stew) and seared tuna. I would have both items again, without a doubt. We also heard that the gumbo is good and saw several diners with that. If you are staying in Georgetown then you will want to go for a casual meal, lunch, dinner or snack - there are outside rustic-style tables on the water as well as inside seating with AC.

Alfresco Bistro is an authentic Italian Restaurant. We are located in the heart of Historic Georgetown on Front Street! We offer Lunch & Dinner Monday-Saturday & Brunch on Sundays! **Every Friday Night Toucha Gray Band plays from 7 until 10! Come join us
I don't know what happened, but after making a reservation three days ahead, we had to wait at the door for seating. No one was there to greet us;finally I went back to the kitchen area and informed them we were waiting. Our server was nice enough, but I had to wait over five minutes for a refill of my tea. I was bone dry by that time. The Cobb salad was small, and I told our server so. My wife's salad with salmon was skimpy and not at all appealing. We will think long and hard about revisiting this restaurant. There are too many other choices in the area of Front Street. The Bistro used to be much better, but I was sorely disappointed this time.

I'm surprised you guys don't have this restaurant on your list. It's a great little place.
The owner, Ron, came immediately over, shook our hands, asked our names and where we were from, introduced us to the people at the next table who used to be from our homestate...all in the first two minutes. This place is the epitome of Southern hospitality. My very finicky eater husband said this was THE BEST pancake he's ever had in his life. Limited menu for breakfast and lunch that are simply fabulous. Fresh bakery items are an added plus

The River Room has served delectable coastal-influenced fare to a tremendous following of loyal patrons since 1984.Moderately-priced lunch items include our World Famous Shrimp and Grits, Shrimp Creole and Pecan Chicken Salad served with apples and grapes
Best Bread Pudding Ever! We went here because of the good reviews to have the shrimp and grits. That was a good dish, but the highlight of the night was the bread pudding. Fresh and delicious without being drowned in sauce. Loved it. Service was friendly and dishes were served quick. Great experience!
