Wow, what a total disappointment. The server was very polite and friendly. The dish that I had was the stuffed rigatoni with meat sauce. I don’t think I’ve ever tasted anything so bland in my life. The pasta was hard and crunchy, and seemed to be overlooked where it wasn’t crunchy. The sauce didn’t do it justice. The restaurant was busy but unfortunately the food didn’t measure up.

The Rambling Root

"The Rambling Root" is so much more than just a restaurant or a brewery. It's a place you can bring your family, where you can meet with friends, and where memories are made. Our kitchen dishes out a melting pot of locally sourced Southern, Appalachian an

We went in and saw that you are to order at the bar. It wasn't too busy but if it was I could see it being a problem the ordering area should be either right up front or the opposite side of the bar. The guy who took our order was friendly but also doing other things so he would go in between taking orders and doing something else. We took our table holders and sat down. My friend got her order and her table holder as well. We found a table, it didn't have dishes on it but it was dirty like they quickly wetted it down, but there was encrusted stuff on it. This isn't the first place this has happened, so I took a wet wipe no problem... then I looked around there were 3 or 4 tables with plates all over and took over 10 minutes for someone to clear them and they were all there before we sat down. I ordered fried green tomatoes. They were okay not really flavorful had a dab of sause that didn't taste bad but didn't have enough of it. Our food came out quickly after, I had their special Kielbasa and my husband had a po'boy. My friend's hadn't come out but she was next to order so we thought it would be a few minutes behind and started to eat. My food had 0 falvor, the Kelbalso tasted like boiled meat with a bit of salt. The po'boy was chicken it was dry. The portion was not large at all, slightly bigger than a hot dog bun and the chips tasted old and greasy. My Kebalsa Hash had an egg on top that was over cooked. I ate most of it but it wasn't even filling. My husband and I were done. I went back up to order dessert and question my friend's food whereabouts. They asked for her name, and I told the friendly guy. Then this lady came out she wasn't rude but wasn't very nice either, the guy was digging through the receipts to find my friends order and the lady told me she needed the name of the beer on the placeholder, I told her... she said that they are still making it... even though I heard kitchen staff say they didn't have the order to the guy... I continued to stand in line for dessert.... the wait was so long my husband came up to get me to tell me, my friends, food was there but the wait to even order dessert was so long, there was no point. We ended up going to the store to get stuff for root beer floats... The food was overpriced, $50 for green tomatoes (4 small slices) a sandwich a little bigger than a hotdog bun, and tacos that took about 45 minutes with soggy tortilla chips. The black bean salsa was dry. We got 2 self seve pesi and a Boylan sida. Beer seemed high about $5-7 a glass, I didn't get any and I know that its a bar, but I wouldn't even come back just fo drinks, It seemed hard to even order those.

We always have to visit Woody's several times when we go back to Fairmont for the family reunion. Not only are their hot dogs the best in town, but the service is fast and the employees are friendly! I love all the Nick Saban pictures and articles on the walls, too! ROLL TIDE!

My husband and I ate on the patio. Some road noise but we could still hear each other. Food was good and the prices were reasonable. I had my first Po' Boy. It tasted very good but it was messy to eat (I guess that is normal). The side was real onion rings which were also good. I also enjoyed the real iced tea. Hubby liked his meal, too. The service was timely and friendly. We will definitely go back.

I ordered the hamburger steak which comes with Oliverio peppers and gravy. That is two different sauces, tomato sauce on the peppers, so I ask for the gravy on the side. I tired both sauces on a small part of the steak and it was surprisingly good.

Really enjoyed this restaurant, especially the location within walking distance of our hotel. Food was great. I had the cabbage rolls, which were fall apart tender. Scallops potato were a bit bland. My son had pancakes, which he declared good but slightly undercooked. Burgers looked great. Fun atmosphere. A bit loud, but there were a few drunken Saturday night customers. I recommend this for great food!

AMAZING FOOD AND SERVICE. The food was amazing! The breaded mushrooms were huge and the spaghetti and the salad were just like my great grandma made, simple, delicious, and great portions. I'm only in town for one night but if I make it back to WV I know where I am staying just to get back to this restaurant. I'd give it even more stars if possible.
