This is one of Athens hidden gems! It is a family owned drive-in (with indoor seating) with amazing food. They are most known for their hamburgers and onion rings. I think these are the best onion rings Iâve ever had in my life! At thanksgiving-they offered deep fried turkeys! I always end up cleaning my plate when Iâm here. You canât ask for better food or service!

Enjoyed a great Cuban sandwich. They offer several sides, my favorite is the black beans and rice. They offer live entertainment on the weekend.
I started eating sandwiches here several years ago, great place to enjoy a healthy meal, if you don't want a sandwich, get the salad. It is in a small shopping center near grocery store and hospital, on hwy 411 north of town.

THis is the place to have a biscuit and gravy in the mornings, they also serve hamburgers, hotdogs, milkshakes, etc, but I go for breakfasts. They also have cinnamon biscuits, handy to the local hospital on hwy 411 north just past the Athens hwy intersection

It had been several years since we dined at Michael's Restaurant in Etowah. While it was OK the last time we ate there, it wasn't particularly memorable. Our friends Norm and Linda chose Michael's as our dining destination for the evening. The dining area is large and well lighted⦠Service was competent and friendly. By the time we finished our dinner, the restaurant was packed!Michael's menu is quite varied, with something for everyone. There are a number of appetizers, steaks, chicken, pasta, seafood, bargain entrees, special lunch items, burgers, sandwiches, entrée salads, a kids menu, sides and soups as well as dessert offerings. For my dinner, I decided to go with one of the seafood items. I was tempted to order the Salmon dinner but instead I opted for the Tilapia Platter. ($10.49) Preparation choices included lightly dusted and fried tilapia, blackened or with lemon pepper. It came with one side and I went for the steamed broccoli. I also ordered a side salad. ($2.99) The side salad was OK, the steamed broccoli was just right and the tilapia was very good indeed. Linda decided to order one of Michaelâs evening specials. This was the Chicken Maria. ($11.99) Her grilled chicken breast was served on top of chefâs rice and then smothered in house made spinach cream sauce with crunchy bread crumbs. For her side Linda went with one of her favorites, Michaelâs Potato Soup. She really liked her entrée too!My wife felt like trying something other than a standard dinner entrée. She went for the Texan Brisket. ($9.49) This appetizing looking sandwich, accompanied with a side of decent coleslaw, was made with Michaelâs house-smoked beef brisket that is sliced and topped with sautéed onions, jalapeno and provolone cheese on a hoagie roll with BBQ sauce. Laurie thought that this was really a quality sandwich! Norm decided to follow his better halfâs lead, ordering one of the daily specials. He chose the Lime Chicken. ($11.99) His chicken breast was marinated in a lime based marinade, then chargrilled, topped with feta cheese and cilantro. It is normally served with Spanish rice, black beans and salsa but Norm opted for extra beansâ¦hold the rice. Like the rest of us, he really enjoyed his dinner.Michael's food was above average, the value was right and it was nicely presented. We will return!

I really wanted to like this place. It's so cute. Decorated like a Cracker Barrel, but from the owners' personal collection of farmhouse finds. This small town restaurant is a place the locals come and try to help these folks by eating here. The Tennessee Valley Railroad trains depart from here and they recommend it along with a couple of other local places. Not a bad way to help the economy here. However, this restaurant doesn't live up to its name. Nothing is fresh and local. My husband ordered a catfish platter. We were so disappointed when tiny catfish nuggets and even smaller hushpuppies were brought out. It barely covered the plate. The baked potato was also rather small and nothing was hot. Everything was hard as a rock and you could tell it was all from the freezer and had been quickly heated up enough to serve. I had one of the evening 'specials'. Salisbury steak which was somewhat tough. The mashed potatoes were not homemade. I cook enough potatoes from a pouch, I recognized this shortcut. The fried okra was okay, but once again, hard as a rock and cold. The best thing was the iced tea. We also had sugar free cherry pie. I didn't eat it, but my husband said it was okay. It looked like it also started out in the freezer. The owner visited with us and so did a couple of the servers. They were sweet as could be, but I'm afraid their friends and the railroad tourists are keeping them afloat. I hope the owners read this and try to do better. They could do this without having to spend much more money, but a little more work. This is the country. I'm from the country, too, and I expect home cooking!

Stopped by for dinner while kayaking in the area. It's not much to look at and the menu is relatively small. We had a variety of burgers and were quite impressed. The larger burgers were good, the minis (Scottie burgers) were good and the couple of side dishes we had were decent as well. Definitely would come back.

We got lucky and visited on "Senior Thursday." For $6.99, you get to pick from several different meals options with meat and 2 sides, fresh bread, and a drink. The service was fast and friendly, and the food was tasty. It was one of the best value meals we have found in our travels.
