Despite all the negative ratings on Trip Advisor, We stopped here for a 2# lobster and fried paddock dinner as we had better here about 3 years ago. Our meals couldn't have been better. The fried haddock, fries, and slaw were perfect. The lobster was cooked just right. Great meal.

Located in a charming 1930's downtown Ellsworth building, Provender Kitchen + Bar boasts Chef/Ower Daron Goldstein's eclectic, contemporary American cooking in an approachable, family-friendly format, alongside Front of the House Manager/Owner Joy Kempf's
Provender Kitchen and Bar is our go to for amazing food, yummy cocktails, great service and a comfortable ambience. We've eaten both brunch and dinner here several times over the last few months and it never disappoints! We've dined at all the "usual suspects" on MDI and really...none of them have anything on Provender. First and foremost the food! It is evident that the chef LOVES food and it comes through in his cooking. It is the kind of food that just makes you smile. Food here is full of flavor, plated beautifully and unlike other foodie places, the portions are generous. Also, the menu has a good amount of options without being overwhelming. We have enjoyed the cocktail program here, there is always something new to try and more importantly the drinks are well balanced and delicious. The service here is phenomenal! They really "get hospitality." I also love the space, I never tire of admiring the woodwork. Thank-you Provender for the amazing job you do! We've enjoyed all our visits!SS,Thank You for taking the time to write this great review. We are so pleased you enjoy everything about Provender. We take such pride in trying to put out the best food in the best possible environment. I will make sure the staff gets the recognition they deserve and tell them about your comments on our hospitality , they will be thrilled to hear it. We will continue to work hard to earn your business . Again, thank you for taking the time and we really look forward to seeing you soon. Best,Daron + Joy

This was a nice size restaurant, with lots of parking and it was very clean. Our waitress was very friendly. I ordered popcorn shrimp and my husband ordered haddock. We both enjoyed our meal. They gave you a small loaf of bread with your meal and that was tasty as well. The only problem was that once we had our meal our waitress never came back. She didn't check to see if we needed more water or anything else. We were thinking of dessert, but gave up that idea. I know she was very busy, but we couldn't even find her. FINALLY she came and we got the bill. The young girl at the check out asked how everything was. We told her the food was good, but there was a problem with the wait staff. She didn't say a word, just took our money. Talk about rude! Don't ask how things were if you really don't care. We had planned to go back the next night, but after that we changed our minds.

We took a large family group here for breakfast and everyone was pleased with their choices of eggs or pancakes or simple breakfast sandwiches. The kids especially go crazy over the chocolate chip pancakes and french toast. Portions are good sized and reasonably priced. Service was quick and friendly. Go early to get a seat!

We went here to have lunch with some friends one of who has some fairly complicated dietary restrictions. She was able to order a great lunch without too much trouble. My wife and I ordered burritos and split a bowl of the chili. The burritos we good and the portions were generous to say the least. The chili had a a name that implied it was very hot, âSpitting Venom Chili.â The chili was very good but did not live up to the name. If you were expecting five alarm chili this was not it. The service was good, counter service only. The dining area was clean and well appointed. Chairs were comfortable and we didnât feel crowded or packed in at all. The only strange thing that struck me was when I paid for our food at the time of order the software for their point of sale system wanted me to input a tip amount. I found this odd because no service or any kind had yet been provided and we had not received any food. I selected the 0% option. There was a tip jar on the counter for receiving tips post purchase. We travel this way often and will return to 86 This again. Recommended for all ages and most palettes.

Crowded and busy in a good way. Spoke to our table neighbor while waiting for the delicious food to arrive. The food arrived as ordered, note the bacon was extra crispy as requested.Trinity provided excellent service, aware of our coffee needs.

My husband and I stopped here because we could see the locals liked it. They were busy but not so hurried in order to welcome you and talk. We received excellent service and a breakfast meal second to none. Eggs were cooked as we asked and the fresh baked bread was a bonus to our enjoyment. Yes we went for another breakfast and will go again when we visit. Recommend it for folks who enjoy breakfast like your Mom served.

Seasonal restaurant specializing in fresh seafood, served on the banks of the historic Union River in Downtown Ellsworth. We pride ourselves on our traditional Downeast fare crafted with care and served with a smile.
We found this place on TripAdvisor. The only thing I can say good about the place is it had a nice view and the service at our table was good. We were beyond disappointed in the food. Worst lobster on our entire vacation (and we ate a lot of lobster). Two of us ordered the lobster and both were way, way over cooked. My spouse ordered fish tacos which was supposed to have Cajun seasoning. The fish was cooked fine but she said she couldnât taste any seasoning and the sauce was not good either in our opinion. What a let down.
