Red House provides an array of food and drink that keeps customers wondering what is coming next. Whether it is seasonal menus, southern bbq, hot trends we keep are customers coming by keeping our ingredients fresh.
Tonightâs meal was even better than the first! I had the roasted Brussels sprout salad with a side of Pulled Pork. It was delicious. My husband had the Roasted Beet salad and said it was also very good. The special dessert was an orange infused rice pudding, which was fabulous! Our dinner was made even more enjoyable by our waitress, Amanda. She was so personable and made sure we had everything we needed.

Lunch at The Wheatmarket, Chester, Connecticut is a most enjoyable experience. Owners, Dennis and Joan, have earned the patronage of many local residents for 29 years! Dennis specializes in making the soups; my wife and I savored Road Island Clam Chowder ($4.50) and Mulligatawny ($4.50), both DELICIOUS. The Mulligatawny was reminiscent of curry I recall when stationed in Thailand in the 70's (US Air Force); fortunately, the spices were muted to American taste. We split a Roasted Boar's Head Turkey Sandwich w/cheese and cranberry mayonnaise served on toast, also VERY GOOD. The food is high quality and reasonably priced; total bill, $19.00, lunch for two. ENJOY.
Visited this place recently, had seen good reviews on Facebook. It was not a great experience. The single waitress was hard working, but she needed some help on how to âworkâ the room, it was impossible to get her attention. Food service was very slow, we had to chase it up, but as we could not get the waitress attention, had to get up from the table. Food was fresh, except the home fries which were burnt. Back to Jacks for us!
Went in at a busy time, but a lot of staff on, and very quick and efficient service. I had a coupon sheet and the cashier wanted to make sure I got the best value and sorted them out for me!Cheap lunch for 4 at $18.00!

The Ckooking Company has been around for a long time and continues to serve fresh, varied and delicious sandwiches, soups, coffee and prepared food. They also offer great loaves of fresh bread daily for sale. Take out or dine in . Also, have some nice gourmet items like jams, jellies, spices etc.

Not that they have lots of competition but an excellent restaurant with a big emphasis on local ingredients. The menu is constantly changing based on whatâs available each day. The chef/owner credits the chefs who prepared the daily menu; no ego there. Chef Rapp initiated the chef to farm dinners he runs for two weeks each summer. They are well worth attending. Look for dinnersatthefarm.com.

We had an enjoyable lunch. They offer a very nice menu:appetizers, sandwiches, salads, pizza, dinners, drinks, and desserts. My husband and I shared a Caesar salad(small) and a small cheese pizza with mushrooms. The food was very fresh and tasty. The portion size were very generous too. In addition the service was very good too. We sat inside(two dining rooms) but they have nice outdoor seating too.

Because we love the setting here, we decided to give On The Rocks another chance to redeem itself. It failed. Crab Cakes (2) were the smallest I have ever seen. The sauce that accompanied them was even smaller. The outside was nicely crisped, but the inside was pure mush. No sign of lump crabmeat here. The Limoncello Chicken showed no signs of either Limoncello or even lemon. The chicken was very over salted and came with a surprise thigh bone. The 6" sprig of fresh rosemary was overpowering, so I buried it in my napkin. French Onion soup came with Gruyere cheese that was thick and chewy, not melted and gooey! It also came with a large sprig of rosemary which had leached into the soup, making it a bit unpleasant. All in all, very disappointing! We might go back for wine and nachos on the porch - or maybe not.

As Iâve said on many many of my reviews, there are three things that are important when visiting a restaurant. Service/Price/Food. This place is actually possibly the most beautiful restaurant Iâve ever seen. Situation on then CT river, overlooking it from like a giant deck. This is definitely a fair weather place to visit, it would be no fun without the sun, but for pure beauty at sunset Iâm yet to seer anywhere that rivals it. I had a chicken burger which was actually really nice sometimes chicken can be dry, but this wasnât and it was actually really nicely cooked. Go, but only when its sunny.

Every Monday night during the summer there are free concerts outside behind the Goodspeed and the Gelston House . The concerts usually draw at least a thousand people who bring lawn chairs to sit on at the green but they also fill the outside patio of the Gelston House. You can sit at the tables or bar listen to the concert and enjoy a cool drink, appetizers, entrees or a really great wood fired pizza. The staff are friendly and provide great service. This is a place I'd recommend visiting.
