I lived in Hawaii from 1964 through 1985. During those years one of the treats was anything that came out of Kings Bakery. Recently, they have grown big enough that we can get their rolls in our local grocery stores. We were recently in Decatur, Texas and had breakfast in IHOP and they have a dish using Kings Bakery rolls covered with cinnamon sauce and another sauce that is absolutely decadent. Wee had breakfast there two days in a row and I pigged out on them. I am sure that they are now a staple throughout the IHOP chain and am so happy to have found them. What a treat.
Had an scrumptious breakfast of French toast and coffee while my husband had his usual biscuits and gravy along with coffee. Service was prompt and food arrived quick and hot. Coffee was topped off without asking and overall it was a yummy and filling breakfast in a comfortable atmosphere.

We stopped for lunch on the road. The service was good and there is nothing really to complain about. Then again, there is not much to rave about either. It's a Chili's that lacks the atmosphere of most Chili's restaurants we have gone to. They allow smoking in the bar which is annoying because the ventilation does a poor job of keeping it out of the restaurant area. Customers have to walk back through the service area to avoid the smoking section to use the bathroom. Food was okay. We were satisfied and on the road in good time.

The establishment is caiied main St Home and Gardens at the same address. The cafe is located behind the store.
Open only from 11-2, lunch is king here. Order at the counter, help yourself to your drinks, and find a table in the main house, or the annex in the back yard. Great sandwiches & soup. Desserts also available. The restrooms are a short walk to the back of the yard. Cool old decorations, like dining at Grandma's house. Parking on the street or the lot across the street.

It has been several years since visiting this establishment and the food is just a great as it was back then. The sliced brisket is amazing; the texture, flavor and quality was worth the drive.

Stood in a very slow line to serve yourself. Brisket and chicken we both dry and without much flavor. Probably yesterday's leftovers. In Texas, you have too many better options.

We have had birthdays here and we all love the fish and salad bar. I also recommend the chicken! Itâs a real treat here and you even get peanuts to sample on while waiting.

We dine at the Whistle Stop regularly. It is more or less a locals type hang out where one can order up fairly regular diner food... great breakfasts, crowded and busy lunch meals. All menu items seem to be well done with generous portions. In addition to the standard diner fare, they serve up great homemade pies... not the soggy tasteless commercially volume prepared pies most offer. These babies are great, crust is excellent, fillings are very tasty. Worth the trip for the pies..... and next door is a local landmark... the Petrified Wood Service Station.

We ate at Roosterâs last night in Decatur. We were seated fairly quickly. We put in a drink and appetizer order. However, there was a little stretch where our waitress got busy with other things. She thought we had a bigger group since we were at a bigger table. However, once she realized we were on our own, service picked back up. I had a basic cheeseburger and tater tots, my husband had a sloppy joe with homemade chips and slaw, and our son had macaroni and cheese and tater tots. We were all fairly pleased with our food quality. Weâll probably try some other places next time weâre in the area, but overall we enjoyed our experience.

Sunday lunch at a place we had heard about! Seated very quick and our server Maggie was heavenly, quick and polite. Four first timers to Cutie Pies and all four left full and excited about coming back. Three of the four had the CFS while I did vegetables. Salads were fresh and cold. Vegetables were outstanding, squash casserole, potato wedges, cream of broccoli soup and baked potatoes were all excellent. Oh and of course the best for last was the cold strawberry pie on a cold plate. So yes we all look forward to coming back!!Thanks Maggie. Retired Chef Gene
