The food is good, not great. The issue is that Southern Living and other media outlets taut this place as the end all of catfish restaurants. We drove 80 Miles to this place when much better catfish can be found within 20 Miles. And the onion rings are giant. No explanation for that.

We stopped here after visiting Shiloh National Park. The coleslaw is not to be missed. It is different than most coleslaw - dressing served on the side - it is more like a 1000s Island dressing - it is the BEST thing I have ever had! We ordered the all you can eat catfish, deviled crab, and the fried oysters. All were very good. A good place for lunch.
Checked in to the hotel and came here for a quick lunch. The overall restaurant is huge, very open with expansive windows and nice views. Ate here with my parents and it was nice for having conversation. We had chicken tenders and fries and someone else got the buffet. The food is very simple, nothing fancy at all, but it was all very tasty and of good temperature. The wait staff was VERY friendly and even a bit talkative when she found out we were from out of state. They were very helpful and the whole experience felt like they loved to have guests eat there. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and it was pretty quiet. Since the place was large enough, it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves.

We stopped in at Freddy T's while on a bike ride thru this part of Tennessee. I had the Prime Rib Sandwich. It was really good! Attentive server named Tisha K. kept my sweet tea refilled, (with plenty of ice). Will be back next time we travel thru Counce, TN.

Very casual, informal place with excellent BBQ. Paper plate kind of place. Good beans and slaw to go with the BBQ. Love the pork.
A casual dining experience located near Pickwick Lake featuring traditional southern dishes, seafood, with a wide variety of plate lunch specials. The restaurant has a local vibe with a nod to the history of the fisherman who fished Pickwick late for many
But will give it another try. We met for breakfast with friends coming to see our new home. We had stopped in at an earlier date for lunch and that too was a little disappointing. I like to support local restaurants but if it is not improved on next visit, 3rd strike is serious.

Full-Service Catfish Restaurant! Fried Catfish, Smoked Catfish (Our Specialty), BBQ Ribs, Cajun Shrimp Boil, Chicken and the best hush puppies ever!
My wife and I, along with another couple have been eating here for 20 years or longer. About two years ago, they closed; we found out a couple of weeks ago they were back open, so we went today. Their main dishes were Catfish and shrimp. The Catfish was either fried whole fish or fillets, but the one option that I liked the best was smoked Catfish. In the many years we've eaten there, I've never ordered anything but the smoked catfish. The new owners were trained by the former owners, and have perfected the recipe to the same great taste as the old owners. The food, as usual, was great. Along with the one fish (has bones) comes slaw, hush puppies, French fries, and a large slice of onion. My wife got the 3 fried fillet dinner; the sides were the same as the smoked fish. We both agreed that the food was as good as before. The restaurant was as busy as I've ever seen it. Don't go here for a fancy atmosphere. The building appears to have once been a service station. The building is clean and in warm weather has inside and outside tables. In the winter, a wood heater is brought inside for heating. So glad they are open again, and we will go back often.

I ALWAYS check Trip Advisor for recommendations when traveling and this place met all my requirements: good food, good staff, good prices. Nondescript in street appearance, the inside was a no frills, charming gathering place. We were here for lunch. Our waitress Cathy was SO informative about the menu and as nice as can be, as was Becky, the originator of the OMG breakfast! (Oh yeah! Going back tomorrow for breakfast !). Everything was wonderful!! A MUST is their baked beans! Best Iâve EVER eaten! Glad we are still in the area two more days! Can try some other menu items!!!!!

We stopped in for lunch while on vacation. My partner had the buffet and I had a grilled cheese with tater tots. Everything was fresh and tasty. Service was great. We would definitely recommend the Redwood Hut.

We're in the area for a couple weeks and some new friends recommended that we try The Outpost, and boy, are we glad we heeded their advice. The Outpost is GREAT! Everything about it was a treat, from the rustic-but-clean-and-modern facilities to the fabulously creative and tasty food. And the service was superb! Our server was friendly -- I mean like lifelong friends friendly -- and patient, and she obviously loved working there. She knew the menu backwards and forwards and was comfortable making recommendations. Other people who worked there came by periodically too, to check how we were doing, to talk about the food, and to offer drink refills, etc. The menu has many unique items so it was difficult to choose, but our server helped. I selected the brisket plate and it was very tasty. The meat had more fat than I'm used to or expected, but the flavor was wonderful and deep. Plus, if I'm anything like my dog, the fat will give me a nice shiny coat! My wife enjoyed her flatbread Philly Cheese Steak sandwich immensely. The flatbread was fresh and tasty, and it fit the overall sandwich perfectly. Our only disappointment was that our meals were so filling and tasty that we had no room left to enjoy their house-made cakes or pies or ice cream. You can't win 'em all, right? I highly recommend The Outpost. P.S. Make sure you plan to spend some extra time exploring the shops before or after your meal.
