Despite all the not so complimentary reviews, time and location meant we were going to give this place go. Glad we did! Michelle was our server and could not have done a better job. Excellent service. The pizza was cooked perfectly. Not your average Pizza Hut Pizza, much better!

So I was happy to learn that Subway serves their breakfast menu all day. I ordered the whole wheat flatbread, black forest ham, eggwhite and swiss toasted with lots of veggies and brown mustard. I must say it was one of the best sandwiches I have had at Subway. I am usually a Subway Club kind of girl but this sandwich is my new favorite. The restaurant was clean, the service was fast and the cost was reasonable. Enjoy!

There are better choices in Clayton. My mesquite grilled chicken was like rubber and tasteless. The cheese popper appetizers were the best part of the meal. Staff was attentive at first ... and then just disappeared. I wanted dessert but after waiting 30 minutes just gave up and left. The cook had to add up our tab from the menu as I paid at the counter. I do not recommend.

The old hotel has been nicely rehabbed and that includes the restaurant. It is nicely and interestingly decorated. The night we ate there only one server was on duty and she had her hands with a full room. She did a great job. The food was interesting but just didn't quite go above average. The cheese glaze on the chicken breast that I ordered quickly fell of the meat and became just a coating for the vegetables. My wife's meal was nicely presented but only luke warm. We would probably go back here just for the history and decor but not for the food.

We pass through clayton almost every year on vacation and there aren't many options for restaurants or accommodations. For some reason we had never tried 87 restaurant, maybe because it's appearance on the exterior isn't nearly as good as the interior. It was fairly busy when we were there but we quickly found a table and got our drinks. If I remember correctly our server's name was Pam, she was friendly, fast and very helpful with our questions about the clayton area, we hope she is there when we pass through again. Our breakfast arrived quickly and was delicious so 87 restaurant is our new favorite restaurant in Clayton.

We had a poor experience with a motel across the street, BUT this restaurant made the stop in Clayton well worth it. Lots of locals, and a very friendly atmosphere. Service was fast, with large servings. The enchilada filling was shredded beef, not ground beef. The relano was excellent. Highly recommend you plan your trip with a stop here.
