Things to do in Clanton
We stopped in Clanton as a lay over on to PCB. We decided we did not want a hamburger and found this restaurant. The food is great and reasonably prices. Restaurant was clean. Food was great. We both got the white fish and it was delish. Sweet tea is also awesome.
Upon entering the establishment, there was a sign posted that said toaster not working and then another that stated beverage dispenser not working. Off to a great start, right?I ordered the typical turkey and cheese sandwich on white. My girls ordered two different types of bread than I. We all commented on how dry the bread was. Staff was just not too friendly, looked they were just ready to get out of the restaurant.

I ordered food for my 99 year old grandma and when I got to her house 15 minutes away I found out they gave me the wrong food. Because there is a certain election that she can eat I had to drive back to get the right order. Before I left I open the box to find they had given me the wrong thing again. If the staff stay off the cell phones they can get some work done.
Just had lunch there on our way down to the coast. We were in the mood for something simple after so much holiday fare. Good comfort food. My husband had hamburger steak plate with macaroni and cheese and peas. He ate every bite and said you could tell it was cooked not just opened cans - seasoned and good. I had a very good hamburger. Then a delicious cake for desert. They have a steam table as well as menu items. We'll go again.

My wife and I went to Clara's for dinner. Turned out it was a catfish buffet, twas delicious. Unfortunately my wife doesn't eat fish, but the sides on the buffet were all fantastic and she wanted to stay. Hopefully next time we get to Clanton we can can get some fried chicken, as my brother in law tells me ,Clara's has the best in the area.

On a recent Sunday I went with some friends who suggested Main Street Café in Clanton. A small town south of Birmingham. Reading reviews mostly on their Facebook page one would think you are in for a treat. Well not really. Opting for the usual meat and two vegetables two of us chose the chicken and dressing. Which should have been called dressing and we will pay you 10 bucks if you can find any chicken. The dressing was ok as dressing goes here in the south where most home cooks can fix dressing with their eyes closed. The fried okra was just not good and the broccoli casserole was mostly mush with a tint of broccoli. I have had better food in a hospital. So why all the rave reviews for this small town gem as its called. I am lost on this one. I did like the interior in an old building right in the heart of Clanton. I am sure there is some historic nature to most of the buildings in the city center. So if your not from the area just visiting from out of town you might take the drive to see how small town Americana still lives. There are a couple of other restaurants in the city that have a good following.

We stopped here for a late dinner. They had a nice selection of food although some of it wasn't as hot as it should have been (friend shrimp / fish). The potatoes, gravy, corn, and macaroni were great. The staff was friendly even though we had a drink spill that caused a mess. They also told us that if we stayed the night at the Clanton Inn (next door) that we would get coupons for breakfast in the morning. We did just that and enjoyed a nice breakfast the following morning. The place was clean and we would definitely return if we are in the area again. The breakfast selection was nice too. I particularly enjoyed the chicken strips which I wouldn't even expect to be on a breakfast buffet. I recommend eating here !

Stopped by for a late lunch while traveling through the area. The fried catfish was excellent. There was a good variety of vegetables. We wanted the fried green tomatoes and the supply was low, so the kind waitress was nice enough to ask the kitchen to fry more just for us - the batter was very crispy. Great food, service and a reasonable price. The buffet was around 8.95 a person.

I was surprised at the large selection in the menu, so more than just BBQ. Daily special discounts. Tables are set up in numerous rooms, so you can actually have a conversation during your meal. Portions are large, go hungry. Staff is always friendly.

Good service. Pleasant atmosphere. My grandmother and i both ordered the neighborhood burger. Great bargain... Comes with fries and i added a side salad which is large. Fries are absolutely delish with a side of ranch. Aioli Sauce on burger is delicious too. Very impressed with this placeThis was our first visit and def wont be our last!!
