We were looking to get breakfast and didn't want to stop in the town of Schroon lake. So I Google breakfast when we were down around pottersville. The lazy Moose came up. I call to find out if they were serving breakfast and she said they do all day long. It was quite the surprise when we got there. I was expecting a little cafe diner like but this place was mammoth yet very Quaint and all the charm of the Adirondacks. It is a Combination gift shop cafe grocery store hardware store twice store camping necessity store and garden center but it was so well put together each park had its own separate charm Everything you could possibly need to be in the Adirondacks. I had an opportunity to meet the owner Paul and have a lengthy conversation and it's quite the story and how the place came to be, but since it's a must see place You can make your own visit in have an opportunity to meet them does the owners are just delightful and happy to spend time with peopleThank you Tony for your kind words. Always nice to hear we are on the right track.

The Place Restaurant

Reviewed By napngs

The Place is a favorite of locals and Adirondack visitors alike. Been owned and operated by the same team for 20+ years. A busy Labor Day weekend (Fri 9/02/19) had the place full. This place is always busy for dinner because they only serve just dinner and only five evenings per week. Open: Mon, Fri, Sat 4:30 to 9:00 pm, Thurs 4:30 to 8:00 pm Closed: Sunday, Tues, Wed.So their popularity is compressed into a smaller window. It's a lively bunch that like The Place so be prepared for the fun. This visit we sat at the bar because there were open seats and we didn't need to wait for a table. We were greeted by Serena and she took our wine & beer order and brought us some menus. Many Italian style choice on the menu. I ordered a cup of chicken pastine soup ($4) and linguine w/ white clam sauce ($15) and my bride ordered the create your own pasta of penne, chicken, roasted red peppers, oil & garlic ($15). Served w/ warm Italian bread. Meals were hot, correct, and generous. Many people were taking home half their meals. Our total w/ one beer, two wines, a soup, two dinners, tax & tip was $72. I feel that the nice thing about The Place is that it is consistently very good - food & service. We enjoy our visits and recommend this restaurant to our friends. Thanks you. Nick & Liz

Well, we are OLD school FLI customers (from back when Sharon & Greg Taylor owned it and thru each incarnation) and we got a meal there this evening (THANKSGIVING dinner no less!!!) that was NYC comparable and Top Chef material without question! The MOST wonderful aspect of this meal was the Executive Chef was a Sous chef when we first met and this is beyond an example of the student bc the Professor! Every SINGLE dish was presentation and taste/ SPOT ON! Divine flavor in each dish presented staring with a roasted Brussel sprout over a gastric of duck confit with a potato dauphinois that was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!! Each bite an exquisite treat and the fact we would be hosting a houseful for the weekend, this was a treat beyond words. Do NOT miss the flourless chocolate cake and take one to go bc you will crave this FOREVER!!! The turkey was both flavorful and juicy and stuffing like Mom made but you simply show up, in your stretch pants. We pared this all with a lucious Makbec which might sound heavy for turkey but it's 15 degrees here and it was sublime. Do NOT miss a trip to FLI for the freshest in season menu's you'll find in the Adirondacks. WONDERFUL and BRAVO to Chef Scott Dewar and the tremendous staff who make you feel right at home.
