Find out what American restaurants to try in Chattanooga. The name "Chattanooga" comes from the Creek Indian word for "rock coming to a point." This refers to Lookout Mountain, one of the city's major attractions. Here visitors can explore extraordinary rock formations, see a roaring enclosed waterfall and travel by train to the top of the mountain for truly awesome vistas. Back down on the ground, don't miss the world's largest freshwater aquarium, the Tennessee Aquarium. History enthusiasts will love the city's museums dedicated to Civil War, Native American and 20th-century history. More than anything, Chattanooga is a scenic city, full of natural wonders waiting to be explored by foot, car, bike or train.

We are a small family owned business with only 5 tables inside and 2 out side. We try to make you fill like you are with friends.
My husband, his cousin, and I went to the Aquarium and then chose this restaurant due to its #7 rating on Trip Advisor. Disappointed in the decor (hole in tablecloth) and very cramped. My husband ordered the Saturday Special (catfish) which was very good, and his Cousin ordered a pork plate, which was good. I ordered the Spare Ribs (large order) and they were over-cooked and hard. Had to ask twice for drink refills, and twice for a to-go cup. Could not for the life of me, figure out how this restaurant received the rating that it did!

1885 Grill is a southern coastal restaurant specializing in fresh seafood, quality steaks and southern sides. We are located in the beautiful St. Elmo neighborhood at the base of the Incline Railway and scenic Lookout Mountain, just minutes from downtown
One of the best places youâll eat! Thereâs no negatives to this place. Great atmosphere, staff is attentive and food is fresh, favorable and makes you want to eat here again. We took a dreadful ride on the incline railroad (donât do it), and when it was over, we were looking for an early dinner since we missed lunch. We walked down the street to 1885. Started of with gumbo, itâs on target with a properly prepared roux, sausage and crab. Just enough spice to be tasty. My husband ordered the fried chicken with gravy and OH MY GOSH! To die for! I got the shrimp etouffee. Word of warning, donât get it spicy. The original has all the spice you want. So while the etouffee is wonderfully flavorful, that fried chicken with that scrumptious gravy is something my husband is still talking about! You better try it, or youâre really missing out! Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us! We love hearing that both the Shrimp and Crawfish Etouffee and the Southern Fried Chicken were hits! We appreciate you recommending us and hope to see you again soon!

The restaurant had a rose ready for my wife, and many others who were celebrating. Gil made our dinner exceptional with his service. Our steaks were cooked to a T. We took our desserts to the hotel for later and Gil made that an easy process with some extra attention.I'm thrilled that your dining experience was so memorable! Thank you for joining us and for taking a moment to share such kind words about Gil's service. I'll be sure to pass this along, and I look forward to serving you another perfectly prepared steak again in the future.Have a great day,Andrew Penland, General Manager

First - Uber if you can. Parking is a pain - but that does not take away from the food.Sat at the bar. Bartender was friendly and answered all of our questions. The meat was out of this world - tender and flavorful. Hummus was okay. Beef tartare was excellent. Mashed potatoes and turnip greens were good. Not a big fan of the pickled vegetable dish.Great selection of wines and spirits.Crowd was eclectic and rather noisy thanks to a large group in the center of the room.Nice butcher shop selections for cook at home.

Good bar, good beer selection. It's a burger joint, with a few other things, but primarily burgers -- different appetizers, some turkey, chicken sandwiches. Tried the fried bologna sandwiches -- could have used more meat, but tasty bunsGreen chili burger was goodFarmhouse salad was very goodWings -- bbq or hot sauce, I prefer traditional buffalo sauce myself, but still, pretty good. Big parking lot (pay) right in back, nice big facility, crowded at lunch time on a Friday, slight wait for indoors, plenty of outdoor seating if you don't mind the heat.

My wife and I along with our 13 year daughter came here for dinner on Saturday night. We had a reservation nd were promptly seated. We tried a cheese board and the carb/shrimp dip for the appetizer. Both were solid. My daughter had the wedge salad and 4 oz filet. My wife and I shared the Veggie platter dinner. All was cooked well. It has a nice atmosphere and we enjoyed the food. They forgot to bring a steak knife and there Old Fashioned had small ice cubes and not the typically solid ice cube but other than that we enjoyed this place. We appreciate the review and the feedback. We are pleased that you and your family had a wonderful meal with us.

My wife and I ate here on our 30th wedding anniversary and the experience was incredible. Everything about our dinner from the reception when we arrived to the service throughout and the food was spectacular! We both had filets and both steaks were cooked perfectly. We had asparagus, Brussels sprouts and creamed spinach as sides and enjoyed a great bottle of Merlot as well. The wine list is extensive and the sides selections were fantastic. For dessert, the vanilla cheesecake was exquisite to say the least. Above all, the service at Bridgemanâs is outstanding! Our server, Derek, was awesome - attentive but not bothersome and such a welcoming personality. I would absolutely recommend Bridgemanâs to anyone wanting world-class food, a charming atmosphere and spot-on service from start to finish. This place is fantastic!Dear Grant,Thank you and to your wife for choosing Bridgeman's Chophouse for such special occasion and for taking the time to share this amazing feedback. We are happy your overall experience was outstanding. We can't to see you again soon!Best regards,

I'm hesitant to go Vegan friendly places in a city's "Art District". Images of tasteless but environmentally friendly whole grains, quinoa bowls and boiled tofu come to mind. But breakfast called and this place was close to the hotel. Outstanding breakfast of Eggs Benedict on a thick slab of ham. I had bacon on the side. The hollandaise sauces was thick and tasty, obviously fresh made. Even great coffee in solid mugs. (And I heard they are Vegan Friendly if that's your thing.)The place is small and had a good line outside on a Saturday even in the rain. Highly recommended.Thank you! We work hard at what we do! We appreciate you noticing. The idea is let all dietary needs have their needs meet without attracting attention to themselves. So, we make enough vegan, gluten free, vegetarian and carnivore options for everyone!

Had a wonderful experience at St. Johnâs in Chattanooga. Upscale without the stuffiness of most white table cloth restaurants. The interior was modern, bright. The menu had something for everyone: scallops, steak, fish, pork, and a wide variety of salads. The service was perfect-attentive but not intrusive. My guest ordered the filet that was a bit over cooked but still delicious. Our server compensated with two gratis desserts without us even complaining. Good wine list & knowledgeable bartender who was able to craft a perfect Manhattan. Recommended...Will definitely visit again when in Chatt.
