Castaic, California (also spelled Castec, or Kashtiq; pronunciation is a source of contention between older and newer residents, see below) is an unincorporated community located in the northern part of Los Angeles County, California. Many thousands of motorists pass through Castaic daily as they drive to or from Los Angeles on Interstate 5. Castaic Lake is part of the California Water Project and is the site of a hydro-electric power plant. Castaic is 41.7 miles (67.1 km) northwest of Los Angeles Union Station and due north of the city of Santa Clarita, California.

This diner was wonderful! The menu was full of choices, including Mexican fare. The server was great, the food was great, and the décor was authentic truck stop style - and I mean that in a good way. Can't comment on the restrooms because I did not use them, but the restaurant looked clean during our 9pm meal. We would have a meal there again.

Lots of diners are more about the experience than the food. Tommie's fits that model... food is adequate, nothing special, IMHO. Older local joint with lots of locals. Nice people.Go for breakfast... plenty of good options and fair portions.Staff is nice, lots of repeat business. They are closed for dinner. Totally fine for a local diner.

Very friendly staff. Can't go wrong with a good Denny's meal!!! Staff was so good, I was reminded to get a Seniors meal. I was here for a family emergency and I appreciated the reminder.

In all fairness, Starbucks is right across from them in the same parking lot, but I don't like Starbucks. I like my coffee in a ceramic mug with a waitress who refills it.I was a little surprised by how dark it was inside. It was very sunny and bright outside, and this place has the lighting of a dive bar.When I walked in, I was the only customer there. The entire staff was busy cleaning the kitchen; and as soon as they saw me, at least three people rushed over to ask me for my order. I have to love a place that has the entire staff cleaning the kitchen during their down time. Maybe it was just particularly gross that day and needed to get done, or maybe they are diligent about sanitation. It's a toss up, but I will certainly give them the benefit of the doubt and return.
