In 1993 the Illinois state legislative named Springfield "the Chilli Capital of the Civilized World" because of its numerous great chilli establishments but no "chilli" in Springfield compares to Taylor's. I have been eating Taylor's Chili for over 60 years and took cans of it to college with me and when serving in the Army. My cousin's mother sent it to him when he was stationed in Korea. I always have the chili but others in the family enjoy the butterbean and vegetable soups. The menu has expanded over the years to include tacos, taco salad, nachos, hot dogs, chili dogs, chili cheese dogs, and chili mac. I eat at the parlor whenever I am in Carlinville but otherwise fill my craving by having a can of chili every Monday. The restaurant recently moved from the NE corner to the NW corner of the Carlinville. The new location is larger and more comfortable. The service is always prompt and friendly. Love it!.

Went there on a recommendation and thought the food was of pretty reasonable quality and the service was also good. What was outstanding were the $3 margarita drinks. So all things considered a $33 bill for two big eating guys including drinks, we went home happy.

When my friends from other states and countries come visit Carlinville and they ask for truly authentic Carlinville food, this is THE go-to place. My Parisian friends have gone home and raved about not only the food, but the ambiance and the wonderful service. And I've heard other Parisians are considering making a group trip to Carlinville just to check out Hardees. The ONLY problem is they do not have wine in stock, but I think if enough of the French start visiting, Hardees will see that they need to cater to this ever-growing market. The Dutch are also beginning to take notice. The Fins don't care and the Norwegians are ambivalent. But the Dutch are hoping Hardees can offer some Dutch-authentic sides to go along with the mainstays like the 2/3-pound Monster Thickburger, the Mushroom and Swiss Thickburger or the chicken tenders. The Italians love the Bacon Thickburger, but the desserts prevent them from coming en masse. But the French absolutely LOVE this Hardees as is, minus the lack of wine.
When I got to the Yacht Club around 2 in the afternoon it was empty but for one worker. He welcomed me in and served the burger and fries that I ordered. The food was fine, the service good and the server pleasant. I was satisfied and would return if it is convenient but will not go out of my way to eat there again.
