We wanted a steak and prime rib dinner so hubby & I chose O'Holleran's, the only steakhouse in Brookings. Another couple came in after us and was served while we waited for our waitress Denise. She finally came to our table and asked if we'd like drinks. Their wine list is very small & slim pickings, we ordered water...Hubby ordered prime rib, medium well and filet mignon, medium. Hubby's came very rare and my steak was well done, tasted good, tender but way over cooked & not what we ordered. (did they switch the orders??!?) The waitress took the prime rib back to the kitchen Twice and then said they'd redo my steak. They brought my steak back cut up and said there's pink there in the middle and didn't grill another one. We can Not recommend this restaurant.

What a find. Everything is fresh. Loved the fried oysters and clam chowder. Clans were excellent too. I like fried oysters. These were the best. Lightly coated and barely fried, enough for crunch and still juicy and almost raw. Liked the key lime pie and cupcake too. Small unpretentious place. Friendly attentive service.

We came here on a Sunday lunchtime for some rehab.Fantastic Bloody Mary, huge portions of homemade red pepper hummus and hot wings.Rehab over we then got down to the serious business of margaritas and they were top quality, made with fresh limes and as sharp as we asked them to be made.Excellent value for money with some good bar staff.Recommended.

Casual, Family Friendly , Great Seafood , Clam Chowder, Burgers ,BBQ Ribs, Chicken , Brisket , Salads, and Deserts
Their advertising is correct - the clam chowder really is the best in memory. The rarely available calamari steaks are tender but heavily breaded, come with an unusually good coleslaw and French fries. The Oregon Alevine Pinot Gris, $6 per glass, was a perfect accompaniment. This is a quite unpretentious diner type establishment with well-prepared seafood.

We made reservations at this rather interesting place. The restaurant area is below the art store. Arrived and no one in the store so walked down some rather worn and small stairs to the restaurant. Ordered our meal - all pretty standard. Waited and Waited. Eventually we were served some warm bread and 15 minutes later a very small salad - one slice tomato, one slice cucumber and a little lettuce. Waited a good 30 minutes for the main course to arrive during which time the waitress was able to avoid us. What arrived was not what we ordered. Overheard another patron complain of the same thing. Waitress offered to have the cook go out to obtain what was apparently was missing. In any event it took us almost 2 hrs to get a meal - not what we ordered and very unexciting. Did not live up to the ratings. Suggest go elsewhere.

My brother lives in Brookings and we went here for dinner. We ate on the patio. Was full inside but looked like everyone inside was eating and had food. We all ordered burgers. I had the bleu cheese burger for a couple dollars more. We waited a very long time for our food to come. About 40 minutes. I don't like raw onions and had to scrape them off the bottom of my bun...also tasted horseradish in something in the burger which I also don't care for. The hamburger itself tasted pretty good and the onion rings were awesome. Prices seemed ok $11.00 for burger with the fries or onion rings and $2.00 extra for the bleu cheese.....wait was waaaaaay too long, my brother said he usually doesn't wait so long for the food and that was a first.....Burgers were good after I scraped onion/mayo combo off!! Also, the waitress was very sweet...she came out a couple of times and checked on us and apologized for slow cooksThank you for the review and patients. If you expressed your dislike for onions the server should of informed you about the Aioli. I will look into this. We will always retoast a bun for you in the future. Cant really explain the horseradish flavor. We have it in the kitchen but only by request. Thank you again for the review. Travel safe. Cheers!!

Matties was established in 1982. We offer gluten free and egg white omelette. We get our smoked meats from Taylor's in cave junction. Our staff is amazing. Come visit us!
Busy, busy place so go early or be patient. Service is great, food satisfying and prices pretty reasonable for the area. The only drawback for us is maneuvering through the tables. My spouse is handicapped and people can get irritated with our process to get seated. Since this place is not large, you should be aware of space constraints if you have similar issues.

On our last night in Brookings after a weeks stay we decided to try Oxenfre. We were greeted quickly and seated, our waiter, Jack was very energetic and seemed to truly enjoy his job. We placed our order for drinks and an appetizers, tempura deviled eggs. Again quickly arrived and the drinks were very good, but the deviled eggs were to die for. During this time we ordered our entrees, Korean short ribs and shrimp and grits. The short ribs that my wife had were yummy and full of flavor. Now, I am a lover of shrimp and grits, having lived in North Carolina previously. I have to say these were as good or better than any I have had. So after all of this, I guess Iâm saying, try it youâll like. And ask for Jack, heâs great!!!

Rude server is also the owner. Terrible food selection. Meatball sandwich was dry and tasteless at $14.00. Small crowded place. Server delivered the drink touching the rim with her fingers,. Very unsanitary.
