We stopped here for lunch before going to the train exhibit at Bevel's Hardware. My wife, son, &3 grandsons. When we walked in there were 3 customers already waiting. Several employees in back, but nobody working that I could see. After waiting a couple of minutes with no evident activity, we walkedout and went for what turned out to be a better & cheaper meal at the Classic diner across the street( highly recommended instead of here)!!!

Had lunch 1x, supper 2x at Huddle House and it was deliciously spectacular food. Try their Phlly Steak and Cheese grilled sandwich for lunch, adding sauteed mushrooms to it. Wow. And their "sandwich" of fried hash browns on top and bottom of bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and cheese, with sausage gravy drizzled over top. is to die for. I was bad and boy was I happy about it.

I ate lunch and dinner here. Dinner was fantastic. The sauted mushrooms and burger were awesome. Service was great. Then I went to lunch. Ordered the same exact menu and got a completely different flavor and presentation. The mushrooms looked like canned mushrooms and you got about a quarter of what I had at dinner. The order was screwed up for both myself and my friend. Found out it was a different cook. I recommend dinner but lunch is a heck no. The pics are from dinner.

Not a place I would revisit. Typical "country type food. Fried food galore. Sandwiches, subs, fried appetizers, burgers and dogs. Dinner consisted of fried seafood. Service for some reason was slow. Eight other people in the place besides us (we had 4). Arrived around 3:30 pm. Took longer than a customary 2 min for someone to take our drink order. About 20 minutes for our food to arrive (3:59). We are talking 2 quarter lb burgers (one with chips one with fries), a blt with chips, one order of sidewinder fries (nasty beef tallow taste to them) and one order of onion rings (fairly good but greasy). The place was fairly clean. The food sucked, service was typical Mel's diner, if you love fried foods, this is the place for you!

This place is fantastic! Food was some of the best bar food I've had in awhile. Ordered the pulled pork fries. The pulled pork was smokey and delicious and the fries were potatoes to die for and when you put them together....Bam you've got a fantastic starter dish. The State Fair burger was delicious and huge. One of the best burgers I've ever had.Service was fine and place was clean and modern. I recommend this place to any one.We are so very glad that you enjoyed your visit at The Blackstone Brew House. We look forward to having you as a guest again. If youre ever in the Farmville VA area, we have a Brew House there as well.

Old place marginally clean. Service is average during meal time with one waitress. Hand written check. $25.00 with tip. Grilled pork chops very thin, tough, and not worth the cost. Mashed potatoes were cold as was the gravy. Blackeye peas were very good. Turkey dinner was good. The greens were bland at best.DO NOT get any of the pie/cakes. Some of this stuff has been in the case for a week. Blackstone doesn't have much to choose from.*Note this review was completed without using ridiculious undiscriptive terms like OMG, awesome, yummy, to die for, do your self a favor, trust me, etc.. We don't care about your allergies or the need for gluten free food. Describe the food, service (or lack of) and provide details on the cost/copy of check and include pictures! Is the place clean?No one cares about the waiter/waitress names or their abilities. They get changed like underwear and you don't get to pick one.

Have eaten here on many occasions, and it's hit and miss. Highlights would be the potato soup and a few of the salads. But the slow service, instant mashed potatoes, and obviously frozen "fresh" offerings fall flat. I ordered off of the pricier dinner menu (crab stuffed fish) and the stuffing was more of a breaded crab cake and was served with the horrid instant mashed potatoes. Not worth the $20. The adult beverage selection looked ok, but they had none of the wines listed in stock. Overall, just not impressed.This review is written by a past disgruntled employee who had to be banned from the premiss.

I visited the Corner Kitchen for lunch while in Blackstone on business. The previous restaurants I have visited in Blackstone have been average at best. Not the Corner Kitchen. I received a warm greeting once inside the door. Service was very prompt and timely. The staff is very accommodating and gracious. The food is excellent. I ordered the angus hamburger requesting it to be prepared medium rare. It was cooked to perfection! Great flavors! I am eager to visit again for dinner based on my experience and a view of their dinner menu. I highly recommend you try this restaurant.
