We went for a second time since some restaurants can have an off day. Wasn't any better the second time. (Went on a Friday this time) Went for an early dinner because a neighbor recommended the Philly cheese steak, a favorite with my husband. It was just ok, he said. I had the chicken fried steak. Too much coating and pretty tough. Mashed potatoes were just ok. I think they used the cheapest canned corn as the corn appeared more brown than yellow.

Recommended by the staff at Holiday Inn Express in Belen,NM. This is a great restaurant/sports bar.
We had been to Fat Sat's numerous times and even when they were slamming busy we didn't mind. We actually seven (7) children, from two aged 34 all the way down to the baby who is 19 in December. We have loved Fat Sat's to celebrate special occasions, (without all the children,) for the last 5-6 years. When we arrived we were told that someone else with the same last name was given our reservation. We asked to speak with the Manager and it took him almost 20 minutes to meet with us. In the meantime, other guests were being seated. The Manager apologized and said that the next table would be for us. I am disabled and therefore I need sit in a booth and he said that the next one was ours. After waiting another half hour and watching at least 20 people leave, we just got up and left.Needless to say, we have not gone back and have no intention of doing so!

We had business in Belen and noticed this diner tucked away between two motels. It was breakfast time and we didn't want to eat the breakfast offered by our hotel across the street. Had the skillet breakfast. Very tasty. I don't like chiles and requested them kept out of my food, so can't comment on quality of them. Teenage son said breakfast burrito was excellent. Stone's throw away from I-25. There will be a gas station opening across highway soon, so it will be even easier to find this place then.

We were in the mood for some fried clams. Very hard to get in the desert of NM - but the clam strips here aren't too bad. Especially now that they are not loading the batter with pepper. My root beer float was pretty good too.
