We went for dinner around 6 PM on a Sunday. We chose this restaurant because we could walk from our hotel. There was a 20 minute wait for a table. The place is quite popular and noisy. The food was okay but nothing special. I really don't understand why the restaurant was packed. Service was okay. It took an unusually long time for our food to be served. Prices are reasonable.

The food was good, but be prepared to wait as it is a popular place. You order at the counter, then collect you silverware and water, then find a seat and post your order number for the food runner to see. What I really didn't like is that the software they use for payment has three default tip settings 20%, 25% & 30%. Plus a no tip button and a custom tip button (both in small letters)1. I don't tip until the end of my dinning experience and find it odd that they should want me to tip after I've only been in the restaurant a few minutes.2. I would never tip 20% or more at a restaurant that doesn't offer table service where you order at the register and set and bus your own table. 30% are you kidding me?My suggestion is enjoy the food and leave a cash tip on the table at the end if you wish. Thanks for the review. You definitely have the choice to not tip. No prob. Or custom tip. Many restaurants are like ours, a QSR style..like Torchys, etc. We definitely bus the tables. There's signs up saying we clean the tables. We have staff checking on tables constantly, to make sure orders are good, drinks need refilled, etc. But yes, we're a counter service, not table service with wait staff.Glad you liked the food.

This is a must see stop in Amarillo. It's a great, fun experience. Between our waitress, Callie, and myself, we got my husband to eat some "mountain oysters." Something he swore he would never do. He was surprised that they weren't all that bad. The produce is super fresh. Biggest disappointment were our steaks. They were cut very thin and way over salted. Also not the tenderest steaks I've eaten. You will definitely need a steak knife. My service dog, Norton, thoroughly enjoyed the pieces he was given. Other than the steaks, it was a great experience!

Stopping over night in Amarillo Sunday, we found the Saltgrass Steak House along I-40. We had a little problem at first when waiting for our table our drinks got lost. But they were finally retrieved and all was good. We had a great server (Taya) who gave us plenty of time to peruse the menu and enjoy our cocktails. My wife had the Beef Medallions which were perfectly cooked and served with fresh veggies. She thought it was delicious and would recommend it a friend. I had the Smoked Double Pork Chop, which was an ample 12 ounce serving that was perfectly cooked and quite delicious! I had the Wedge Salad which had a balsamic vinegar dressing topped with bleu cheese crumbles. It was excellent! The only negative was the mac and cheese side dish. It was a runny, tasteless glob of powdered-cheese flavored sauce. Avoid it as they have many other side dishes that looked a lot better than the m&c. Overall, I recommend Salt Grass and would be happy to eat there again.

We were pleased we decide to try this place, clearly very popular with local people. There is plenty of choice on the menu and it is nothing fancy, just great food served with a smile. We has coffee, OJ, and breakfast plates with eggs, sausage, hash browns and pancakes, and our total was $23. That was outstanding value and our Shelby was amazing too.

This place earns it place as one of the best burgers in Texas. Worth the wait! We had two old fashioned with mustard, one with cheese & tomato, the other no tomato, both with raw onion. The half pound patties were crumbly & juicy deliciousness on a nicely toasted bun. We also shared an order of the excellent fresh cut fries, enough for two or three. Next time in Amarillo merited a return visit.

We stopped for lunch and ordered brisket sandwiches and Cole slaw. Sandwiches were tasty and moist - amongst the best we have ever had. We can see why this little place ranks amongst the best in Texas. Staff is very friendly.
