There is nothing extraordinary about this property except, possibly, the slipperiness of the inside floors. They were kind of scary, actually. Our server was great, and attentive, but the food was mediocre. My omelet was dry, a burger was overcooked, etc. Probably won't return.
I have had Smomehouse Catering serve the meal at a wedding and at a church event. The food has been very good when it was served to me. I was a guest so I do not know the cost of the food. Smokehouse is well known for serving large groups of soldiers In training at Camp Dodge. I have been by its location at 1409 Walnut in Dallas Center. It is on a Main Street a block away from the big Co-op grain elevators on the opposite side of the street in the middle of the block. The name of Smokehouse is in big letters on top of the front of the green building but the door is locked and there is no sign telling what hours it is open. I don't see any indication of an operating restaurant in that building.

Visited Rube's for the first time tonight. What a fun and interactive establishment. Grab a drink at the bar, pick your choice of protein frim the beautiful counter, cop a squat at one of the many tables, throw your protein on the grill, and chat it up with friends around the aromas of grill and drinks. We will be back with more friends! Thank you for a great experience.

I love their Tuesday special. baked potatoe w shredded pork. it's a meal in itself. I usually get carry out. but service has always been good. just wish I could get that tater anyday. had the nachos for last dine in. the half order was huge! their pickles are bomb....spicy, but bomb. I've had them cater for work and was perfect.
This bar & grill is a bit of a dive (lots of personality), but the tenderloin sandwich is fabulous. My wife is from Iowa, and the state is renowned for pork tenderloin (aka breaded pork cutlet) sandwiches. We tried several across the state, and the one at Ambro's Roadhouse was my favorite. It was HUGE! And I liked the tomato, onion, lettuce, and pickle served with it. (Often, at other restaurants, this sandwich comes 'naked' in a bun.) I also liked the 'crinkle cut fries'. There's a wide assortment of beers for beer lovers, so there's no reason to go away thirsty. (Looks like they have wine & hooch, too.)

Tried multiple attempts in different months to go to this restaurant and 5 times in last 3 months they were closed when I got there. Sign on door says closed. Have tried at lunch time and dinner time. I had called ahead and phone rang and rang. Disappointing that nothing is mentioned on answering machine when they will be closed during normal open hours. . Not a lot of atmosphere, but staff is friendly and food typically flavored well with large portions for fair prices.
