Nama, Herero, German, Afrikaans, and British cultures have influenced the growth and development of Windhoek. Visit the statue of Hosea Kutako, a nationalist hero, in the gardens surrounding the Tintenpalast, the seat of the Namibian legislature, or chow down on ostrich kebab or zebra steak at Joe’s Beerhouse before leaving on a safari into the Namibian wilderness.

After checking Trip Advisor, I noted that the closing time was supposed to be 11pm. My friend and I arrived at 830pm with the intension of ordering food and some drinks for her birthday. We were told it was closed!!!!despite all the signs showing that its supposed to close much, much later. If you advertise specific opening times please stick to them. Otherwise it looks very unprofessional.
I was in Angola a couple of years ago and I've been trying to explain the level of service and the type of food one gets at a Portuguese restaurant to my Partner. We visited a couple of restaurants and still I was not getting what I anticipated. Until I visited this hidden gem in Ausspanplatz opposite SME Bank. I had a fish meal and the fish was soo fresh that you could almost guarantee that it had just been taken out of the water. The rest of the meal was true Portuguese style with carrots, potatoes and cabbage. Absolutely amazing. The Portuguese are extremely generous so the portion of food is alway pretty big. Service was excellent. The chef even came out to greet us.I cannot give any criticism for my visit in any way.
We came and sat down qithout reservation. Place became busier after 6pm. Food was good, not super cheap but not super expensive either. Some drinks were not possible to order, but the waiter was happy to suggest something else instead. After finishing eating, there were possibilty to take leftovers as take away.Nice and helping staff.Would recommend if you interested in trying something local and bizzar for western world.

We visited this restaurant only for lunchtime soft drinks after visiting the National Independence Museum on the floors below. We were pleasantly surprised by the external balcony, where we sat with our drinks taking in the great views over the city. The service was pleasant but unremarkable although the prices were excellent compared with UK standards.

My review may be a bit biased as we were personally hosted by Twapewa, the owner of Xwama. Either way our experience was really great. Hearing her story and the journey she has walked really put everything into perspective. To start we had some beef with home baked bread and a tomato salsa. The beef was tough a very difficult to eat, the bread and salsa were amazing!! Over good. The drink oshikundu is a malt drink and comparable to mageu, it is an acquired taste, but it was good. The mains were delicious!!! We had marathon chicken (100% free range traditional chicken) and sheep hooves with millet pap which were all amazing. The food was really good.

As a new branch of the famous restaurant in Windhoek, they are doing great. Service is fantastic, food is amazing, and the location although a little bit difficult to find is nicely tucked a little way off the street making it cozy and quiet. Menu had a few funny typos making it interesting to read. The sign they had at the road pointed in the wrong direction so we turned it around for them so others could find it. Wait staff really eager to explain the food and proud of the restaurant. Would highly recommend it. Food was delicious and well presented. Now if only they had their own website and address so people could find them instead of always been directed to the one in Windhoek I think it would be a gold mine.

Charcoal grilled is our signature, whether it is for our highest-grade prime-cut Namibian free-roaming beef or game. Our signature dish, the Rodizio, adopted from Brazilian Gaucho tradition, is a variety of grilled meats served tableside using long skewer
They have very nice concept having "normal menu" and the really this meat lovers portition. Meat was mostly good (except beef :( ) and service excellent. You get easliy good variation of game meats at once.

Joe's Beerhouse is a place for people of all walks of life to meet. It can seat up to 580 guests at a time and is open 7 days of the week. The menu emphasis lies on game meat but also caters for non-meat lovers. It however is not geared toward fine dining
If you like loud piped rock music while you eat surrounded by a stuffed giraffe head, stuffed leopard and assorted lion heads and other 'trophies' this is the place for you. Not the place for a social conversation as ppl raise their voices to be above the music and hubbub. Appalling environment to eat in.We take note of your review and appreciate your opinion but also know that our setting will never appeal to everyone. Kind regards.
