Reviews on African food in Nairobi, Kenya. Known as the safari capital of Africa, Nairobi is an energetic, modern city that serves as a fascinating introduction to both wildlife and nightlife. Music clubs pulse with life, shops and markets bustle, and a mélange of restaurants will tempt your palate in this former Maasai watering hole. Top sights include the Karen Blixen Museum, Giraffe Centre and the black rhinos of Nairobi National Park. The compact city center is safe to walk in and taxis make other areas accessible.

The food available at our hotel was all western and we were keen to try some authentic kenyan food whilst in Nairobi for work so we headed to K'Osewe. We went around 7.30 and it was very quiet. We shared a whole tilapia, ugali, rice and spinach and it was all delicious.
We are the latest addition to CBD, with our newest branch located on Kaunda St. Great food with fusion menu and coffee to get you woke. A great place for Meals, Meetings & Events, and Coffee.
Enjoyed the balcony eating area above the street( lots of action there!)The menu has some Somali style dishes, camel is featured along with Swahili cuisine and stirfry, burgers etc. Some delectable drinks offered fruit juices and smoothies. Friendly servers and comfortable atmosphere inside and out.Hello CM J,Hope your are well. Afropean cuisine is a blend of African and European cuisine, flavours, tradition, homely and cozy feel. Savour your meal with French wine or a cocktail !
In the heart of Westlands, but in a relatively calm courtyard where trees are part of the architecture, Brioche is a great place to have lunch with friends or family. The menu offers a variety of dishes, from the French crêpes to a revisited version of Kenyan nyama choma, to fish and vegetarian dishes. The service is great, with very helpful and friendly staff. Strongly recommended!Thank you Aurelie for visiting us and for the nice review !We are happy that you enjoyed your visit and are looking forward to seeing you soon again.Team Brioche

On the outskirts of Nairobi on the Langata Road is the world famous Carnivore, known as the Ultimate 'Beast of a Feast', a meat lovers den where a vast selection of succulent meats are charcoal grilled and carved at your table. Adjoining the Carnivore mai
Definitely an interesting place, but if you're just a first-time tourist blowing through and expecting a fine meal, you'll be disappointed, unless you don't care/ know much about good food.To make it really cool, I figured out (a day late) what you need to do: don't accept the food at the rate and in the order that it comes at you!! Control what you accept - don't let them keep piling one meat after another on your plate, and pay attention to WHERE on the skewer they're cutting the meat. They come to your table and just start slicing, so if you let them, they'll slice stringy tough lamb shin off what is clearly an excellent leg of lamb. Also make them slice whatever it is thin so it isn't tough! And my best advice: get them to cut it off the outside of the skewer so you can enjoy the barbecue/ smokiness of the cut rather than just the inside. I think they reserve the best for regular customers, so when they ask you if it's your first time, tell them something like you're the High Commissioner's son-in-law.Also when you ask the person seating you what meats they have, they'll miss a lot, so you'll think the chicken that's served first is worth it. I was too full by the time the rabbit and croc skewers came along.Dear Palta, thank yo for checking us out and taking the time to review. It is unfortunate that your meal did not meet with your expectations and you felt that the service you received was not up to standard and the servers appeared to favour other guests. Your feedback has been passed on to the team concerned and we will certainly ensure that any problem with the customer service is immediately addressed. Kind regards Geraldine

We offer indoor and outdoor dining. Outdoor dining options are aplenty, either on our terrace or 'Down Thyme' garden. If the weather is a bit chilly we offer jikos to warm you up, or dine inside next to our cosy fireplace.

I really loved this restaurant in Nairobi. I use to order vegetarian platter every time I visited this place. A single platter is more than enough for two people. It is also value for money. The ambience is typical of most of the restaurants in Kenya. Calm, serene, simple with loads of greenery. I would definitely recommend to try it while in Kenya.

Lovely ambience, very spacious green and open. The food, wow!! Truly authentic Ethiopian dishes, good portion sizes. The honey wine is a favourite and the Ethiopian coffee at the end of the meal is a great experience. The platter is a must to try what this cuisine is all about.

We had a wonderful late lunch at Tamambo during a recent trip to Nairobi. The menu has a great selection for everyone. One of our party is a gluten free vegan and had no problem ordering a wonderful lunch meal. Additionally we had ostridge burgers that were out of sight. They were cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The service was excellent and timely. I would highly recommend for a meal.Dear John, Thanks for checking us our on your recent trip to Nairobi, and wonderful 5 star review.
