Reviews on African food in Graskop, Mpumalanga, South Africa. Graskop is a small town in Mpumalanga province, South Africa. It was set up in the 1880s as a gold mining camp but it now serves as a tourist destination and the timber industry. The name is Afrikaans for grassy hillock. “God’s Window”, a scenic view from the escarpment of the Lowveld below, is located outside the town.

It was a chilly Saturday during a long weekend in August...we stopped at Graskop for a bite to eat and it was a bit of a disaster to be honest...Graskop was busy and the restaurants were packed so we popped into this establishment for a bite...the poor staff were overwhelmed and not coping at all...apparently there was only 2 of them and they were fast losing the battle. Big up to Hazel for getting us to wait for our snacks which took ages...we eventually got up to leave but she convinced us to wait it out, so kudos to her~ Personally I believe the owners should take the rap on this as it was a long weekend and they were so not geared for it at all. We were also not alone and most of the patrons were not happy. Food was okay but unfortunately not worth the wait...sorry guys, I dont like to do negaive reviews but it is what it is~

The Kadisi Restaurant offers a unique ethnic atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy the unforgettable view of the Three Rondavels. Enjoy our sumptuous buffets or have something from our snack menu, served in between meal times.
This is a large restaurant in the Forever Resort with plenty of parking space outside. It comprises a spacious dining area, split in two to both the left and right of the entrance, plus an outside patio area. However, when we visited in June it was too chilly to take advantage of the patio area, but I would imagine it offers good views from the deck. Inside the left-hand dining area appeared to be unused, but doubtless is kept busy in the high season. We therefore used the other dining area, which was comfortable with well-spaced tables with a nice log fire in the centre to give a cosy atmosphere on a chilly evening. They offer a buffet at 170 rand per person, or an a la carte menu. The buffet appeared to have a good selection with three meat dishes (one pork, one chicken and one beef), but not being a great fan of pre-cooked buffet meals we went for the a la carte. Three of us had the rump steak (two as part of the surf and turf option), while one had the cheeseburger. The steaks were OK, but all a bit chewy although the calamari âsurfâ element was nicely cooked and crisped. The burger was also OK â a fairly standard burger with nothing to complain about but nothing special. The service was good and friendly. Not being familiar with SA prices I have no idea whether it was good value or not, but it seemed reasonable to me at 135 rand for surf & turf, 115 rand for a plain rump steak (plus 25 rand for a sauce) and 70 rand for the burger, with 500 ml draft Castle at 28 rand. All in all we enjoyed our meal. However I find rating difficult as the restaurant was very nice and the food good, but Trip Advisor for some unknown reason does not provide a rating for good. As (for me) the rating of a restaurant must be heavily based on the food rather than the ambience then I could not say the meals were sufficiently above good to warrant a âVery Goodâ rating. On that basis I have rated it as âAverageâ with the understanding that this means good, but nothing more and nothing detrimental.Dear malabarflyMany thanks for your visit to Kadisi Restaurant at Blyde Canyon, A Forever Resort. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your visit and do take note of your comments.Sincerely

Being a sea-faring nation the Portuguese were intrepid explorers and among the first Europeans to visit the Cape of Good Hope in the 1500s. In the Colonial era that followed they left their mark in various places on the African continent â Angola, Moçambi
We stopped here as they advertised Portuguese cooking. Well, Iâve been fortunate to visit Portugal a number of times and never experienced food like Canimambo served. My chicken was OK but the dish my wife had (steak based) was poor. Might be better another night but wonât be testing it out.You Possibility didnât understand that a Trinchado is unique to Southern African Portuguese and may not be to your taste. The menu and signage clearly state Portuguese Mocambican and not Portuguese European cuisine. We apologise for not meeting your expectations.

The word is out on the town and this little "Boskombuis" is creating wonders and just doing something completely different. Welcomed at the humble boma entrance you are escorted into an unforgettable traditional South African dining experience combined wi
It's such a shame when a truly unique restaurant becomes blase. I reviewed this in 2016 as a must visit place. Well it's still a place worth a visit and a drink in the beautiful surroundings by the river. However the food on this occasion was truly awful. Actually inedible. Had they not used the word tender when referring to the beef I wouldn't have complained so much but it was so tough that it was beyond chewing. My wife also left her meal which tasted awful. The waiter refunded me my meal. I can no longer recommend the food although its a pleasant stop for a drink.Hi sir, I truly apologize for you unsatisfactory experience. It will be very helpful if you can tell me when you visited, and if possible who your waiter was. This will assist me to do our best to rectify the situation. Again, my sincere apology. Please let me know when you are in the vicinity again, I invite you to be my guest at Boskombuis. Regards. Francois

Specializing in South African Game dishes, Indian Curries cooked traditionally. All meals prepared on Open Flame with our restaurant seating offering you both indoor and outdoor garden settings with boma fires and a very relaxing atmosphere.
My daughter and I stayed at Autumn Breeze B&B across the street, and the owner walked us across to show us the restaurant. We were enchanted, both by the environment and the proximity. Happily, the food didnât disappoint! Our wonderful server, Priviledge, suggested the grilled ostrich- which was amazingly tender, and the potjie. Servings were ample and we left with full, happy bellies.
