I ordered the fillet steak....... Er more like strip loin. Was very tough. Very small amount of chips.Husband had the beef fajitas. Again tough.Unfortunately he was then poorly that night and for the next 24 hours D+V. Everything comes smothered in weird sauces, maybe to try and disguise the meat? This was not a cheap meal.......£30.00 for The Gambia?? Someone's getting rich by ripping off tourists.

Went one night for evening meal and was left waiting for 15 mins and only then, after we had asked for service, did someone come. We decided to leave without ordering as there appeared to be a long delay, even though they were not busy. We went another evening and the service was again terrible and we noted other diners had simila problems Tried decided to give them a third chance, this time at breakfast time - it was ok but then again, we were the only people there!! Wouldn't go again unless they upped their gear!

Probably the closest you will come to local food - they serve Domada, Benechin, Yassa - all given a European twist and served very well - also the Captain Fish with lime sauce is equally good - service is very friendly and good if not busy. The only downside - very loud live music comprising 90% drumming starts at about 9-ish - this may be attractive to some - but not if you have unimpaired hearing!!!

I have been coming to Gambia for a number of years with friends. On this occasion I was eating on my own and did not welcome the manager hugging me across the shoulder..too familiar for someone I've never met before.I ordered a chicken dish and the chicken was so tough I couldn't finish it.One place to avoid.

Good food, nice setting especially at the street site, were you can watch the senegambia life. (Be early) Only disadvantage the many âmusicâ guys asking for money after theâve obscured the view and spoil the area with there music. Recomended cocktail:Mojito.

Solomon's Beach Bar is on the bach at Palma Riva road, fantastic fish cooked african style in addition to regular European food.
My husband and I visited Solomon's 4 or 5 times during our stay in Kotu. This is a friendly place with a great view. Drinks were served quickly. We ate here one night. I chose the Potato dish and my husband had a fish dish. Both meals were fantastic, but were a little slow arriving. We were given a complimentary garlic bread whilst we waited. We had great service from Buba, and also some fascinating conversation. Well worth a visit to Solomons

We ate at the Calypso four times and also visited for the live music on Sunday afternoon. If you are a guest at the Ocean Bay Hotel next door you will consider yourselves extremely fortunate to have such a fantastic restaurant on your doorstep. The food was delightful and the staff just lovely. Go once and I bet you'll go again.
