Quirky doesn’t begin to describe staying here: it is a truly unusual experience. And we loved it. This is not a hotel but a bed & breakfast with an amazing swimming pool, its own private theatre (we had a guided tour and a short concert by Franck the proprietor and pianist) and astonishing furnishing and chandeliers. But the WiFi and showers are 21st century and brilliant. And then the breakfast: the platonic ideal of a French continental breakfast with fresh kiwi, juice, croissants, very fresh baguette, brioche, comte cheese, good coffee and three sorts of confiture made by Madame. Plus a good location and a little garden. An extraordinary experience

We stayed in this magnificently restored grand house on our journey down to Mallorca. We initially chose the hotel as they were willing to accommodate our two small dogs in the self catering accommodation off the courtyard. We were not disappointed. It was like going back in time. Our apartment was huge with a well equipped sitting room/small kitchen . The rooms had massive wooden beams throughout, also on the floor so be careful. All toasty warm in freezing December. We were late to arrive but staff waited up for us and were delightful and welcoming. We were also given some locally made chocolate which I have to say is about the most delicious chocolate I’ve ever tasted. Although we were just passing through, it was a wonderful stay made incredible by our cathedral visit and the wonderful magical (non-commercial) Christmas market. Do visit this charming historical accommodation and it’s charming staff. We will be back.

Very pleasant and accommodating hosts. All the rooms were full for our requested dates so a small house nearby was offered. Unfortunately no WiFi. Upon paying the bill we were told that credit cards for foreign currencies ($) were not accepted. A very unpleasant surprise. Would have liked to know that in advance.

The hotel restaurant, The Mire in Vierzon, located at the exit 7 of the A20. 11 Avenue de Chateauroux, Mereau North. Hotel stage, ideal on the way to your vacation or for business trips. Just steps from the Sologne and wooded charm, the hotel restaurant La Mire welcomes you in a quiet and easily accessible environment. We welcome you 7h to 23h, 7/7, 20 rooms completely renovated in a warm and friendly style. The Mire also offers a room for people with reduced mobility (PRM). Your boutique hotel is 30 minutes from Bourges and 5 minutes drive from downtown Vierzon. We offer you a wide open parking 24h / 24.
Close to the highway, this hotel's location is well suited for a stopover. Also good for a trip to the Chambord and Chenonceaux castles. The room was comfortable but would have benefited from an armchair (just one rickety metal kitchen chair for 2 people isn't great) and night-stands next to the otherwise comfortable bed. Good and easy to operate air-conditioning and a decent bathroom as well as functioning Wifi. Free cold water and soft drinks available - a nice bonus ! Very friendly and helpful owners and staff. The restaurant, however, was another matter : I don't appreciate overcooked and tasteless salmon and expensive watery wine. In all fairness, the hotel manager took my complaint to heart and the next morning announced that the salmon dish would be removed from the menu and a free bottle of wine was provided for comparison with the previous night's beverage (after tasting, I can confirm a huge difference in quality between the two). Lesson learnt : do not order wines that are offered in 25 & 50 cl bottles in the Vierzon area; the bottles are unmarked and the wine is of a lesser quality, as witnessed in more than one Vierzon restaurant.

Had an amazing stay, the hosts are really nice and thoughtful, the place is clean and tidy, really feels like a jump in the past. The breakfast is amazing as well, feels like a breakfast you'd share with your family.

We were stopping over on our way back from the Dordogne and just wanted somewhere to sleep. The room felt a bit like a hostel, being in a long annexe out the back but it was clean and comfortable. The evening meal was good value but the breakfast was superb, having the best cheese selection I have ever had in a hotel

A warm & friendly B&B in the heart of France only minutes from exit 20 on the A20 motorway. This recently renovated village house in the lovely market village of Chaillac used to be the servants accommodation for the 15th-century chateau opposite & still retains a lot of the original features. Great evening meals served by the Host Matthew who used to be a Head Chef and has worked all over the world
My mum and I spent a night here while travelling south. Matthew couldn’t have being more welcoming and helpful - he made us feel very at home. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. We booked for the evening meal which was delicious and some of the best food I’ve eaten in France, everything was so fresh and from the local area - my first time trying Guinea foul (bought from a farm just along the road). I’d highly recommend you book for dinner if you stay here. Very pretty location and a lovely walk to the lake which isn’t far. We throughly enjoyed our stay and I’m sure we’ll be visiting again. Thank you Matthew!

We arrived at this restaurant on Sunday 16th August and asked [in my best French) if it was possible to have a table for two for lunch. The waitress said very Abruptly and very rudely NO... It's not possible!!! Then turned her back on us and walked away. There were many tables that were empty when we arrived!!! We returned later with 6 friends who were going to drink there but I told them how rude they were and we went to another place for our drinks. We were disgusted!!!!
