Blending harmoniously into its natural environs, Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden lies 1,000 metres (3,281 feet) above sea level on Eckerbichl. Views of the Alps stretch in every direction, with Mount Watzmann striking an impressive pose. Lake Koenigssee, the historic Dokumentation Obersalzberg and the city of Salzburg are a short drive away.
We had wanted to visit Kempinski Berchtesgaden for a number of years but we saved the trip until this year especially for our 10 year anniversary and it did not disappoint!! The customer service was 5* from start to finish. Anything that we wanted help with from airport transfers to car hire, to bus routes, the staff were always so helpful and friendly. I have a severe nut/peanut allergy and all of the bar and restaurant staff were incredibly accommodating and reassuring and even knew which room I was staying in which was very impressive. There was nothing that the staff at Kempinski Berchtesgaden couldn’t do for us. We were welcomed with a smile and all of the staff were so polite and happy to be at work (who wouldn’t in such a beautiful setting and hotel?!) The hotel/spa and hotel grounds were unbelievably beautiful. We stayed in a Mountain View Room, we have stayed in many luxurious places but the view from our room has got to be one of the best that we have ever seen. As we first entered our spacious and immaculately clean room, it had rose petals scattered in the bath and on our bed as we had told them about our anniversary and a gorgeous mousse dessert on the side for us. The food and drink was excellent. The breakfast buffet had a wide spread of choice from cereals to fruit and yoghurts to salmon, sausages, bacon and eggs. Plenty of juices and smoothies and a wide choice of tea and coffee available too. We ate at the Bergstüberl restaurant where we were served meat, fish and vegetables on a hot stove in a cosy and rustic atmosphere. Again, the food was outstanding. We will never forget this trip and our experience at Kempinski Berchtesgaden - especially as my partner also proposed to me at the beautiful site of Lake Konigssee (only about 5 miles away) We would love to visit again in the future and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Special mentions to Hanna, Julia, Natalia and all of the bar staff at the Lobby Lounge and Kaminbar, and the lovely lady on the desk who welcomed us every morning at breakfast. Thank you for making our stay the best. Until next time… Chloe and Jack.

Almost everything about the hotel has been of a high standard - friendly staff, great breakfast, nice seats down by the riverfront. Our room was cosy and the bed comfy and there was plenty of hot water for post-hike showers! Unfortunately the hotel's location leaves a lot to be desired - it is directly across the (very pretty) river from the main road through Berchtesgaden, which is very noisy all day and night. It's also a good 15 minute (uphill) walk into the main town centre with the best restaurants, bars and shops. There are a few restaurants and shops nearer the hotel, but they don't look to be the best selection that Berchtesgaden has to offer.

Booked a suite for a week mid June, and we left after two nights. The room was told to be a suite but we end up in two separate small rooms that smelled like mold and moisture. We couldn’t sleep with closed windows. If you read Alpenhotel, you expect a calm hotel but you receive a very busy street from very early in the morning till late night. The restaurant wasn’t complient corona regulations with open buffet and no control at all on wearing the gloves and masks for the guests. Besides this you need to be quick to find a good parking place or you end up with your car far away somewhere in a busy street.

Great option for Berchtesgaden. Part of the hotel is new, and we enjoyed the spacious room and comfy mattress. Big clean bathroom. Couldn’t connect to the Wi-Fi and you must checkin within specific hours and the pillows weren’t great. Everything else was fantastic and I’d highly recommend this hotel for your stay.

After some miserable stays recently we were SO ecstatic to finally celebrate a hotel for being simply EXCELLENT at what they do! Edelweiss is an absolute must - a real gem of a place with SUPERB staff and service, facilities for the whole family (including day care and a kids club!), pure relaxation with its pool, outdoor jacuzzi with direct view of the mountains and luxurious spa. The service staff, setup and quality and standard of food and beverages offered are impeccable and we were genuinely sad to leave and are already booking our next stay. It is a complete mystery to me why this hotel isn’t 5 star! There is nothing negative I can say about this hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about it and the staff EVERYWHERE in the hotel, from front desk, to service staff, to room staff to bar and facility staff - you can be damn proud of yourselves and the level of quality and class you do your jobs with! In just 8 mins by car you’re at the nearest ski resort, lake, gorgeous mountains and everywhere you look the second you leave the hotel is breathtaking. We were desperate for a change of scenery and a bit off time out of the stressful run of daily life - you delivered this to its fullest and we can’t thank you enough. Thank you so, so much! I’d be very interested to try your other resort in Salzburg too! This truly is a hotel for everyone - singles, couples, families, the thrill and chill seekers! We’d argue the price of the hotel is more than fair for the standard they provide too. EXCELLENT! MUST STAY!!!

This is a nice, clean & modern hotel. The location is set away about 15 minutes from Berchtesgaden. The facilities include WiFi, and free parking. Also they have a small kitchen which can do pizzas and a bar. I can’t complain about the rooms as they are beautiful. The only thing is the breakfast is limited.

I came here with my family. We stay in a suite with kitchenette. Loved the spacious bathroom and extraordinary front desk staff. It's only a few minutes drive from the eagle's nest entrance and about 10 minutes drive to visit Koenigsee.
