HISTORY OF THE HOTEL The architects Landes & Partner in Frankfurt a.M. were inspired by the cultur-historical heritage of the region. Thus, the hotel building empathized from the structures and colors of former tobacco barns, which parcially still can be found in the area. Until 1925, directly after the harvest, during the late summer months, the tobacco leaves were hung up in the basilica of the monestary to dry. Later on barns were built for the treatment of the tobacco leaves. Another reminiscence to this special time period are the half-elliptical windows that reach all the way down to the floor. The profile of the windows mirror the shape of tobacco leaves which gives the hotel its distinctive look and further visually explains the name of the hotel: Tobbaccon.
