good hotel at a wonderful location

Reviewed By premium-explorer

It is a great place to stay and eat. Next to the ski slope and chairlift, with a great panorama view, the location is simply perfect. In the SPA is you find all you need to relax and recover. The food is delicious. The team is very guest oriented und up to the director, all work hard to make the guests happy. Nevertheless, a few points to improve. We got a bathrobe just on request and one day the croissants were out of stock at breakfast 30 minutes prior the buffet closed. Sometimes the dinner took a bit long, which can become a bit a challenge with small kids. Overall we enjoyed it and plan to go back.

Hotel and restaurant where hosts really cate

Reviewed By kasistos

I’ve loved this hotel and its restaurant, where the hosts of the hotel really care about their guests and every detail makes it feel. As mentioned, restaurant is great too - probably better to reserve though luckily we got a table without a reservation

Hotel Zur Alten Gasse

Gen of a hotel in a gem of a town!

Reviewed By Us2kidsndog

My family of four (and the dog!) spent six marvelous days at this phenomenal hotel. The only thing I’d change is that I wish the stay was longer (and maybe update the ski room, if I’m being really picky). We met the owner, Roger, literally as we pulled into the parking lot. He helped us find a spot (there was recent heavy snowfall) and arranged for us to get into one of the few covered spots the next day (there aren’t many, so if avoiding a snow covered car is important to you, reserve one ahead of time!) Alice, who helped with our booking as well as reception and restaurant duties, went above and beyond EVERY DAY in some way to make us feel at home. My two girls could barely say goodbye at the end of the trip! The hotel is maybe 20 meters from the ski lift. A quick walk through the parking lot or ski out the back door puts you on piste directly above the lift. The food at dinner was outstanding. Nearly every course was remarkable. The soups were among the best I’ve ever had! Breakfast is good, but can’t even begin to compare with dinner. It is what we’ve come to know as the standard (but good) Swiss breakfast buffet. EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE was beyond top notch. From asking a favor from housekeeping l, to some little request at the front desk, every need and want was met with a genuine smile that made us feel like a truly welcomed guest. Bellwald itself is a gem. Though a relatively small ski mountain, instruction was amazing and conditions were (and we hear they are often) world class. I highly recommend this hotel. We will be going back soon, likely to try the Onya, the connected “higher class” hotel (I believe it is a 4 star to the Alte Gasse 3 star). The rooms at the Alte Gasse are lovely. They are what we have come to love as an excellent example of a Swiss classic style hotel. The family room was large, two full bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. Everything was clean and impeccably maintained. We don’t go to a place like Bellwald to hang out in a fancy room, we were there to Ski!

Fantastic place to stay

Reviewed By FlyingPicker

We rented a very spacious appartement equipped with all amenities one could ever need while away from home. The host couple are extremely friendly, hospitable and helpful people whom we immediately felt at home with. And the location is simply stunning. Lots to do in the area so we surely will go back here.
