If you are in the area this is the place to stop..The PIZZA is fantastic, especially the Stuffed Pizza but its not for the faint of heart bring you appetite and eating pants.
Service is always great and its not a chain restaurant so the quality and taste are FAR superior. There is a reason this place is still in Beardstown after all this time.

Beardstown is not on an interstate, unless you count one of the original highways in America, the Illinois River. Today, U.S. 67 is an important connection between St. Louis and the Quad Cities. We skipped the Hardees and McDonalds on the highway, and went into historic downtown Beardstown. The River Town has been open since June, 2015, and it is popular with the locals. Don't let the coffee and wine bar moniker fool you; the lunch menu is filled with delicious salads and sandwiches. We shared the Thanksgiving Turkey sandwich and the Reuben, which were yummy. We didn't get to try the homemade baked goods, or their beer and wine selection. The decor is electic and contemporary. River Town is a keeper!

I rated this location average because of the 6 visits this year all have had longer than expected wait time (even when just ordering 2 small blizzards) and more than once they've been out of ingredients...Most recently out of their featured, advertised special...all weekend. The replacements were served partially melted, too. I wouldn't mind waiting as much if the product looked freshly made when it was served.

We ate here after staying the night at the hotel next door. The food was hot, a good amount for the price and the waitress very friendly. She kept our coffee cups filled.

A friend and I were motorcycling the two-lane roads in central Illinois on a recent Saturday morning and decided to stop for breakfast in Beardstown, IL. After touring up and down several streets we "discovered" a restaurant with an open sign in the window.
What a treat ! Authentic Mexican food that makes you want to go for seconds. Eggs with hot peppers and chorizo with re-fried beans ans rice. The menu is limited but had a good selection. This is also a bakery and the display case must have had 20 varieties. When we approached the cook/waiter/host he rolled out a hot box from the kitchen and invited us to select from the still very warm offerings.
I don't get to Beardstown very often but when I do return, I know where I'm stopping for lunch.

Going in to McDonald's in Beardstown has always been a good experience for us. The restaurant has good food, is clean (inside and the outdoors). The staff is friendly and they have the $1.00 menu, which I very much like. Yesterday, at about 2:00 PM I had oatmeal and a yogurt parfait for lunch and it was delicious. Just hit the spot! Good place to take grandkids, as they have the "playground."

Tyson's is where you go for good home cooking! I've never had a bad meal. The service is great and don't leave without having one on the wonderful root beer floats! They make their own root beer too!

My Wife and I stopped here while traveling north. After I filled the car we went into to wash up. We could smell the pizza cooking. My wife had a slice and a cup of coffee and I ordered 2 bratwurst and coffee. The food was very good and it was served hot and tasty. This is a nice place for travelers or someone in a hurry. We will be back.
