We ventured in here for an afternoon snack and stayed for a wonderful evening meal. The staff were very forgiving of our bad German, and helped us immensely with the menu as it is in German only. The menu is full of local cuisine all of which looked and tasted beautiful. I had the Knoblauchsteak (Steak with garlic and bernaise sauce). My wife had the wiener schnitzel. We washed it down with a few beers and an Apfel Sartz Schorle (Apple juice with fizz). The dessert menu is just as delightful. The home made Rote Wand Torte is a must. It is a little off the beaten track, but well worth the effort.

We went to Geitau for a wedding and and stayed at the Der Schmiedhof. The owner, Bridgett communicated well throughout booking and while we were there. The rooms are spacious and very well appointed. Great kitchen area, spacious bedroom, living room area and bathroom. In the main area are wonderful books to peruse while you are sitting in a fun, comfy chair that is suspended from the the ceiling. Amazing experience! Hope to return. Great, great value for the price.

Located in the heart of the picturesque Bayrischzell, the hotel Alpenrose Bayrischzell is a mere 70 kilometers from Munich and easily reached by train as well as by car. Whether you come for business or for leisure, the Alpenrose is the perfect base camp for meetings or exploring the Bavarian Alps and the Tegernsee-Schliersee region. Its uniqueness derives from the hotel’s mix of traditional Bavarian blended with design classics from the sixties, giving the hotel a guest-house and mountain lodge feel. The refurbished restaurant offers a hearty breakfast and in its “Zirbelstube”, the large, sunny veranda and the cosy Biergarten you get served traditional Bavarian dishes made with fresh local and seasonal ingredients. All 30 rooms provide a sitting area, TV and a bathroom; some of the rooms have access to the huge balcony. A small in-house SPA-area has been opened in 2019. 2 meeting rooms with Wi-Fi provided free of charge throughout the hotel. Parking is available for free as well.
The hotel is excellent! Super clean and organized, with modern facilities while maintaining its mountain cozyness. The food was excellent, as it is the wellness area. Special thanks to the staff that was super friendly and helpful.

Our well-kept 4-star hotel with a special flair is located directly at the foot of the Wendelstein - an ideal starting point to discover the region, to be active or to relax. In the Hotel-Restaurant Seeberg we indulge you with a fresh, uncomplicated seasonal cuisine in which regional delicacies are skilfully combined with international influences if the weather allows you can also enjoy the sun terrace or the quiet garden. The SPA area offers on 350 m² a spacious indoor pool, sauna, steam room, shower grotto and more. Our goal is to offer you a temporary home in which you will be lovingly cared for and completely comfortable. Personal care and cordiality, flexibility and the famous extra mile are important to us and lived everyday. This is especially appreciated by our numerous regular guests and we are happy about numerous top ratings and a lot of positive feedback. Arrive, get away from the hustle of everyday life, refuel and enjoy at the Alpenhof.
We had been wanting to go skiing, but had to cancel several weekends due to the weather which had been very windy lately. So when the weather was finally ideal, it coincided with the week that all the kids in Bavaria have off. "Oh no!", we thought, when we realized it too late. But we were pleasantly surprised to arrive at the hotel and not be bombarded by children. In fact, the pool was practically empty although the sunbeds were all taken and not a child in sight! Wonderful. After 5 minutes, 2 people left, so we had sunbeds we could use. People were quiet and we had a lovely afternoon in the pool just after checking in. Their restaurant was closed due to too many of their staff having gotten Covid. So we ate dinner elsewhere but breakfast the next day was superb. Everything was great except for the coffee, which was very bad, but I'm a coffee snob, so it might be OK to those of you who aren't. I then switched to tea and that was great! I adapt easily enough. We also worked out in the fitness suite and it was really great. No one was there and there is a wide array of machines that you can use, plus disinfection spray to clean the machines afterwards. The bed was comfortable and the room was fine. The balcony opened up to a nice view of the garden and the pool. I would upgrade the TV as it only had local TV channels. It is 2022 and all hotels should really have Smart TVs where guests can enter their Netflix, Amazon Prime or Sky TV password and watch what they like. Aside from that, it was a lovely stay and when we drove to the Sudelfeld Ski Resort the next day, we were surprised to only wait 15 minutes to be allowed down the hill to the parking lot. It was around 11am by the time we got on line and it wasn't long at all. The pistes weren't crowded and this was at it's peak! The only negative was when the hotel emailed me about the room key because they apparently misplaced it. I informed them that we handed it in at checkout to the older blond lady at reception that morning and then paid the tourist tax. How on earth would we have been able to check out without a key? It was annoying to be contacted about this and it left a sour taste when I saw a missed call from the hotel the day after I had replied via email. Therefore, I took off a point for that. Aside from this, everything was great and the young woman with the long blond hair at the reception who was there when we checked in was absolutely lovely. She kept apologizing for her English but she really did speak it well and we appreciated her help. We did enjoy the hotel and would recommend it. Next time, I'll probably take a video of us checking out and handing in the key, though.

In the beautiful Wendelstein area at Sudelfeld, surrounded by forest and Alpine meadows at an altitude of 1,100 m, the Berghotel Sudelfeld is a fantastic location for hikers, families, mountain bikers, winter sports enthusiasts and workshop delegates. The newly refurbished Berghotel Sudelfeld exudes a new freshness and now offers gym and sauna facilities. The carefully maintained grounds, planned hotel lift and use of other facilities in Tegernsee, such as the Westerhof Café in Stieler-Haus for breakfast, afternoon coffee or dinner out, complete the range of services on offer. A lovely spot for a holiday, workshop or to eat on a day out. Well away from traffic, you can fully enjoy this picturesque landscape in the middle of the four best holiday regions in the Bavarian Alps.
We just spent the weekend at the Berghotel Sudelfeld for our niece's wedding. The restaurant space, and event room/terrace were perfect. The food was wonderful and the staff incredible. They were gracious and helpful and worked hard all weekend - helping to make the wedding a family event to cherish for all time. The Saturday night wedding ended around 5:00 in the morning and the staff were back with a clean dining room ready for us at 10:30 am for breakfast.! Amazing. The rooms were small but clean with comfy beds. The only negative was that the parking area was under construction so lots of dirt and dust.

Bayrischzell is a small very beautiful village surrounded by mountains and stunning scenery. The village was very quiet when we went in June, and there's not a huge amount to do but we went for peace and quiet and great beer and definitely had both! Hotel Gasthof zur Post was really lovely. It's quaint, pretty and traditionally Bavarian and a lot bigger that it initially looks! We stayed in the part of the hotel furthest from the main part which I think is the older part, they have been refurbishing the rooms in the main bit but we didn't mind as our room was large, pretty and traditional. And being where it was, our huge balcony had a beautiful view of the mountains. The staff were very pleasant and helpful despite our lack of German (not many people speak any English so come prepared with a dictionary). There was a bit of lack in communication about breakfast, we didn't know it was included and weren't told, but it is! 7:30-10am in the restaurant through the door past reception. Breakfast was lovely, and the waitress was also very nice. The beer served at the hotel and throughout the area is of course outstanding. We also had a lovely meal locally at the pizzeria, which we would recommend and there is a good supermarket next door to the hotel. It's only a 15 min train ride to Schliersee which is a must, go up in the cable car, just breathtaking. We are hoping to visit Hotel Gasthof zur Post again in winter to see it in the snow.

If you are driving to Hotel Koenigslinde, free parking is available. Enjoy your stay in Bayrischzell!
I knew I needed to stay somewhere small and quiet after visiting 7 European cities in a row, but when I booked Hotel Köenigslinde I had no idea I was booking the highlight of my trip so far! It made sense to book into a village I could get to on the train (impressive hourly service from Munich) and a hotel I could walk directly to (in about 2 minutes!) but the internet never quite conveys the feeling you will get when you arrive, so it was still a stab in the dark for this Aussie on a first time visit to Germany! Hotel Köenigslinde is a delightful sanctuary in a picturesque village nestled into the Bavarian mountains. The area is well known locally for winter sports but it's perfect for a summer holiday if you like nature. Very family friendly too. I can't believe that it isn't overrun with people. Please don't tell everyone! The walking trails are well marked and allow you to traverse the valley and climb peaks and you can do it all from the front door of the hotel. For those less inclined to walk all day there's the train to neighbouring villages and lakes, buses and even a cable car if you fancy lunch up on the highest peak. The town's tourist office is a wealth of knowledge about events, music, cultural activities and there are many fabulous places to eat in Bayrischzell as well as on the mountain slopes. As an Aussie hiker, I'm quite in awe that I can spend a couple of hours doing a 500m-1000m ascent and get a fantastic hot meal and a cold beer in the local Alm at the top or half way up. It makes the hiking feel rather civilised and the walk back home a lot easier! Local supermarket open 6 days a week covers all other supplies for walking. You'll even get a good pair of hiking shoes at the local outdoor gear shop, so don't think you are going into a complete backwater. The care and service I received from the owners of Hotel Köenigslinde was superb. It was a pleasure to chat with them each day at breakfast or in their cafe in the afternoon. The breakfast was a joy to eat and every detail was taken care of. I could rant and rave forever but the point is, if you are trying to decide whether to stay here JUST DO IT. If you are trying to decide how long to stay, STAY LONGER. I got the impression that most people come here for a weekend but seriously this has been the best 2 weeks ever! I could happily stay longer and I'm already looking forward to coming back.

Am Tannerhof gilt: Come as you are!
This place is a retreat from the hustle & bustle...food was exceptional and the surroundings beautiful! Unfortunately there was a big BUT for us; we were paying EUR205 per person per night and the service at this place was very very poor. We had cold showers throughout our stay. We raised this with reception to be told someone would look at it but the problem persisted. At checkout we were given a ridiculous EUR20 off from our bill. In general, we felt this incident was reflective of the level of service: the service was slow (we had to go and get our drinks ourselves at the bar) and generally we felt there was a lack of friendliness/ attention from the staff. Very disappointed to have to leave a review like this but our experience can be summarised as follows: Overall it felt more like a fancy Pension than a 4 star hotel. The price to pay is unjustified.
