Typical frankonian restaurant with dishes from the region and delicious wines and beers. Place to be...
This small restaurant has 'bäck' in it's name, as it is a traditional 'fränkische Gaststube'. The meals are very tasty and the prices very reasonable! The restaurant servers local wines and a great variety of food. I had roasted duck, which was excellent. The 'Flammkuchen' is an excellent choice as well. During summer time you can sit on the patio, which is very small and cozy, grapes growing above it.Dear guest Glencheck, your review was written nearly seven years ago and we are proud that nothing has changed. My respect for the man who ran this restaurant before as I do my job just for two and a half years. Will the future be positive! In Bavaria more than 25 % of all restaurants and pubs closed their doors for ever and the Flammkuchen sometimes is last exit and it doesn´t belong to the Frankonian kitchen tradition.Maybe you will visit Würzburg once again - Then we meet in SophienBäck, okay?Sincerily - Your host Johannes and Sophie ;-)

As a part of our Vantage River Cruise, we were treated to a wine tasting in the former Prince Bishop's Court Cellar after we had completed our tour of the Wurzburg Residenz. The State Hofkeller Würzburg is the third largest vineyard in Germany and has an annual production of approximately 850,000 bottles. We were lead through a long corridor lit by candles (a custom from ancient times to test the oxygen content of the basement air) and barrels into a room with long tables set with wine glasses and baskets of delightful bread (again surrounded by candles and barrels). The wine sommelier explained the 4 white wines during the tasting: 2016 Wurzburger Muller-Thurgau trocken, 2016 Wurzburger Innere Leiste Silvaner trocken, 2015 Wurzburger Stein Riesling trocken, and a 2015 Randersackerer Marsberg Riesling Auslese. After the tasting we were able to purchase wine in the cellar.

We had dinner at the Weinstuben Juliusspital and enjoyed the food, the wine and the setting. We chose to sit inside on a cool night, although a very pleasant outside verandah is also available. The service was efficient and helpful. An English language menu was provided. There is a good range of dishes available. We skipped the entree and went straight to the main. My wife had an excellent wiener schnitzel, and I had a delicious bratwurst with sauerkraut. Both meals served in good sized portions. There is no beer served - only wine. Our Rose (served by the glass) was very good.Costs are quite moderate. Mains around $20 Euro Would be happy to return.

This is an old hospital changed into a restaurant. It is welcoming. Donât let the small entrance fool you there is plenty of room. The food was average for the price but still very tasty. It was a good place to eat but most likely a place I will have forgotten in a year or so.

This small restaurant feels like entering a different dimension and time, quirky and arty, they don't have a printed list, but a passionate and competent friendly guy who speaks good english, guiding you through the dishes of the day and recommending wines to suit your taste and the choice of food you made. Food and wine were delicious, we also bought a bottle of the wine I had to take home. Reasonable prices for the quality.Long ago! But thank you very much! Hope we See use sometime again! You Tiopolinos!
