Discover Restaurants offering the best Mediterranean food in Coburg, Bavaria, Germany. At the top of Bavaria and dating back to at least the 11th century, Coburg sat undiscovered by many late 20th century tourists, surrounded as it was on three sides by the former East Germany. The town’s main attraction, impossible to miss since it overlooks the town, is the 13th century Veste Coburg Castle, one of Germany’s largest and most beautiful. Sometimes called the Franconian Crown, today it’s home to three museums. Reformer Martin Luther, then an outlaw, spent five months here in 1530.

Situated across from the Landestheater, just off of the main pedestrian zone, sits Kunstlerklause. We began the night with a beer outside, listening to opera singers practicing/warming up in the building across the road. As it was nippy, we moved inside to find a very cozy restaurant where we had our dinner. The meal we ordered was typical schnitzel (pork), which was served with a small salad and potato salad. We were disappointed with what was delivered to us, as the schnitzel breading was more like a batter (it all came off at one point), and the potato salad had many pickles in it, which we are not huge fans of. While the meal disappointed, the actual building and location was nice which is rounding our review up to an overall average.

Great food and great atmosphere. The restaurant is style in a very modern wooden and warm light setting. The service was excellent especially when I found out it was a cocktail special, two for the price of one, and the salmon pasta was very good and well priced. Good place to meet people of have a meal. I believe it gets very busy late at night. A definite must stop for any foodie.

Invited by a business partner to join him, I reached the Bar Celona that seems to be quite trendy in town. Ambiance very lively, mostly women , the inside rooms were fully booked , having also several tables outside we could have the dinner served .This place pretends to be a bar.restaurant serving tapas....I let my partner choose and we got a mixed tapas and a plate of serrano ham those were just decent , very average and nothing to remember. A small filet and some side dishes was then completing a dinner that would make ashamed any real spanish person .Wine quality (except few bottles ) really low ,Good and efficient service , that is the best thing of all They buy basic wines as I guess basic food and they serve at affordable price but without any specific value I will hardly return to such place

Maccaroni was one of these large and strange decorated restaurants. My expectation was not too high BUT Service was fast and very friendly. I had one of the better pizzas in my life and an outstanding red. Good starters and enough choice. Not a gourmet place but very good "standard food".
