Reviews on Austrian food in Fussen, Bavaria, Germany. Fussen is steeped in over 700 years of history, from its roots as a Roman trading fort to its present-day status as a nearly secret Alpine holiday escape. Situated on the southern end of the Romantic Road, the medieval town center is framed by the majestic Alps, towering above the banks of the river Lech and surrounding lake region. Here you will discover late-gothic castles, baroque cathedrals and the oldest preserved fresco in Bavaria.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights in Fuessen and we really enjoyed the excelent dinner we had at Kuess die Hand. Our highlights:1) Excelent and well prepared dishes. I had a great raviolli (picture) and my wife tried the meat, also very good;2) Very friendly and attentive owners/staff. One of them was born in Italy, maybe thatâs why the pasta was so good!3) Great location and atmosphere, with small candles in each table, good and soft music playing inside...4) The desserts are really fantastic, my wife tried the strudel (excelent, warm and cryspy with a vanila topping) but the highlight was a dessert that I forgot the name, with an appricot filling that was recommended by the owner (picture). We were very satisfied with Kuess die Hand and other great restaurants in Fuessen (Chapeu and Zum Hechten)!

We were told that we stayed too long and there might be guests coming, when I haven't yet finished my beer and it was raining cats and dogs outside! At the time, the restaurant was half empty, and there were other guests staying as long as us, or even longer, and I didn't see them got asked (we only stayed for about 1 hour). Discrimination towards Asians?

Excellent bavarian and austrian food in bavarian stil with friendliness staff.
A real treat the night before we left Fussen to go to Salzburg. Not sure what's going on here. Our dinner was much better than dinners we had at two of the seven top-rated TripAdvisor restaurants in Fussen. There are only three other reviews for Himmelsstube, which, by the way is in the Hotel Schlosskrone. Two of them were written German. One pehaps in Portuguese. English-speaking foodies should try this restaurant.
