French fusion cooking in Munich, small restaurant with 30 seats, catering and party service, wine selection
Pullach is a quiet, well-to-do suburb South of Munich, which sits directly on a high bank over the Isar river. The "Old Distillery" restaurant lies in the middle of this small town. The interior of the one large room is rustic with lots of wood and has a comfortable, clubby feeling. The wife ordered ceasar salad (10 Euros) and I had the goat's cheese au gratin (13 Euros) as an appetizer. Both were overloaded with superfluous , decorative ingredients but lacked any defining taste. For the main courses we ordered the duck's breast with chestnut ravioli and brussel sprouts (25 Euros) and the salmon with a bean salad and bean puree (20 Euros). Neither main course was convincing. The sauce on the duck's breast could have been used with any dish on the menu. Here again the plates were loaded with disparate elements which seemed mainly decorative, which lacked a real taste and which didn't fit together. As a restaurant in this price class with the claim to meet the expectations of the clientel in this area, it barely gets a passing grade. The bottle of red from Franz Keller from Baden was good and fairly priced at 32 Euros.

This is a high class restaurant where the whole concept fits. The menu is simple: you choose between 4 till 8 courses, they ask, what you donât like or have allergies and then, get surprised. The individual courses are a harmonic composition of food, which always fits.

We were guided to the restaurant through Tripadvisor. Google had advised us the restaurant was only 7 mins away by subway. But the access was totally blocked. We had to find our way on foot and Google showed us a rather complicated way to the restaurant. But we were glad we persevered, as the food was excellent. Starting with the olive oil with our starting drinks. Followed by a mix of meze. Ans a main of Sis Kebab: an exellent combination of lamb and pepers.Highly recommended
