The atmosphere is informal but super comfy, with large tables to accommodate families. Portions are very generous and the food is delicious. The service is epic, friendly, fun, and inviting. Definitely recommend for families or couples.

One of our new favourite places around the Ettal area. Great food, beautiful location, good service and value for money.

We wanted to get a Kloster Bier here and were successful in addition to getting dinner. Some menu items not available till after 6 (such as the Cordon Blkeu), so we missed out. However we did have an excellent Schnitzel and a zweibelrostbraten. Lots of good Bavarian Food. Friendly wait staff.

This is the restaurant beneath the Maximilian Hotel. The bar is popular with internationals from the NATO school so you get a good mix of nationalities in here & a nice atmosphere. The food is good Bavarian food but beware...the portions are hefty so some people like to share. The beer is brewed onsite & good too. The staff are friendly & helpful generally, but we visited two nights in a row & on the Saturday night the staff were less attentive & we felt we were abandoned at times. I would definitely eat here again though.

We enjoyed both dinners, one inside the restaurant, you need to make a table reservation, and one outside on the patio on a beautiful early evening. It's spargle season, so we enjoyed it with local fish and potatoes. The mushroom ravioli was excellent and my husband fell in love with the apple strudel of course. Delicious pastries and breads. Great beer of course and nice selection of wines. If you have the opportunity to enjoy a meal on the outside dining/patio area, do so. It's lovely. Friendly servers compliment the meals. Meals are served beginning at 1630 which was helpful when traveling all day. Gladly recommend.

After a wonderful walk in the beautiful Bavarian countryside, we called in to have lunch in the Ettaler Muhle Biergarten and we are very glad we did. The tables were full of locals enjoying a Saturday afternoon over a satisfying meal and a beer and their smiles were friendly and created a welcoming atmosphere. The food was tasty and filling - roast pork in a beer gravy (nod of approval from my husband) and the classic flammkucken for me was delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the experience.

We cook young Bavarian cuisine. This tastes unusually bold, modern and unexpectedly bloody guad.
Got to the restaurant after a long trip - a welcome respite from a long drive. Restaurant only seats maybe 25 people so a reservation would probably be a good idea during the busy season. My daughter got the polenta and I ordered the trout, we shared dishes, and both were outstanding. The server was most pleasant, patiently listening to my attempts at German! Great food and great local beer made for a delightful meal.

This place does not boast extremely good food, but it was all okay. The service was friendly. Especially that the cook came out to greet (although he needed to smoke).Just a comfortable place to have some ordinary food. I took the Edelweiss schnitzel, but I did think it a little bit too dry.

I came here with a large group and had a soup, venison goulash and a lovely dessert consisting of fruit compote topped with warm meringue. Savory, simple and creative. No complaints here. The owner came around and did magic tricks during our meal. Very friendly and charming atmosphere.

While staying in the Hotel Zugspitze we are here several times. The traditional breakfast was consistently good. Dinner menu somewhat limited although is was off-season. Staff very efficient and by German standards friendly. With so many great places to eat within 5-10 minutes walking distance we would not go out of our way to eat here. But the bar in the hotel is great, with live music and lots of locals in attendance on Thursday nights. Christine in the bar is great--friendly and helpful. We would go out of our way to have a drink here
