Die Gastwirtschaft ist urig und authentisch. Leider gibt es immer weniger davon. Sehr leckeres Essen, tolle Schnitzel in allen möglichen Variationen.

Location, town square Alzenau. Friendly Bavarian restaurant, with fine home cooking, excellent menu for meat eaters, 7/8 vegetarian choices, limited to dishes containing cheese and cream, although I think they would prepare something vegan style if you speak German (or translate what you want and write it down beforehand), or speak to the odd staff member who speaks very good English (most speak a little, but few fluent). Menu written in English also available on request. Choice of beers excellent, all locally brewed beverages, and worth trying them all. Seating is inside or outside, and I fully recommend sitting outside on a hot Bavarian evening in the summer for a beer or three, although you would be wise to book a table in advance as every evening in the nice weather is busy, and from Thursday through to Sunday can be packed outside with any empty tables reserved. Food recommendations, anything from the menu is good home cooked food, served in pans, large plates and breadboards, and almost all main meals are mountainous portions. Vegetarian, the best are the cheese noodles, and flammkuchen which is like a thin crispy pizza with cream, feta cheese, tomatoes, olives and herbs on, again for vegans I think they can cook without dairy, or prepare a salad without cheese, and also a jacket potato (without the milk based herb sauce) if you can make yourself understood, also vegan friendly sides available if you can make yourself understood. If not, why not just eat something vegan from the local supermarkets? Most have an abundance of fresh and ripe fruit and veg, tofu based faux meat products, and a huge selection of bread, and then simply enjoy a few drinks on the porch here, and enjoy the great atmosphere. 3 out of 5 for vegetarians who don't mind dairy products (4 if you really like cheese or milk based products), 1 out of 5 for vegan food, 5 out of 5 for meat eaters. 5 out of 5 for anyone wanting to enjoy a local beer, although strict vegans do your homework on Bavarian beers (3.8 averaged out). Prices, from as little as 5⬠to 18⬠for food (steak being the most expensive, but locally sourced, around 2.9E for a 500ml beer.

Went there with a large group, which makes it noisy in the room. Atmosphere was nice. Food was OK, nothing spectacular. We had a bottle of the Silvaner Auslese, which was good, but we had expected more.

Highly recommended to go there. From outside it doesn't look like a restaurant as it is above a tennis club. But inside it is very cozy. Always a warm welcome and frequently changing menu with tasteful combinations. One of the best places to eat in and around Alzenau

The service was excellent and food to match. The restaurant is in a small town and I wasn't expecting the menu to be in English. But the waitress noticed that I was struggling with the German version and offered me an English version that was hand written and then took time to explain each item on the menu. Was fully booked for Sunday lunch so reservation is a must.

Probably one of the best places I've ever eaten. It was not the cheapest but the food was amazing, cooked to perfection and they even made me some typical german cabbage even though it wasn't on the menu at the time. Recommend to anyone :-)

Hotel' main restaurant is located in the 'old' or historical part of the hotel. Very cosy, warm atmosphere. Not a very big menu selection, but food is good and portions large. Prices are OK.Nice wine selection, rather expensive (compared to food prices).Service was OK (restaurant was full, we had to wait to place orders and refills - a couple of hands short...). Kitchen could easily handle the demands. We'll return.Dear Guest, thank you for your assessment and your needed time.We regret the long waiting period in our restaurant during your stay.We would be pleased to welcome you in our hotel again.Best regardsMiriam DebesReception

If you want to eat here, plan and book well ahead! Steffens were in Steinheim in the past and now moved to Alzenau in a bigger, brighter place. It also has rooms to stay. The food is excellent, the ambiente modern and all is well here for business or private. It is a bit out of the way to get here, but it is worth i!
