Going towards Frankfurt we made a stop to eat in a small city called Kitzingen. There we traced a Tavern serving Greek traditional food among other dishes. Excellent service , very friendly environment since even the owner had a long discussion with us , providing us with some directions for our trip. Though we arrived at a late hour for lunch , the kitchen remained open in order to taste some really nicely cooked food. Prices very reasonable, it was a good experience.

This restaurant is owned by the famous Juliusspital, charitable hospital and wine producer. Located just outside Volkach, it just might have the best view anywhere on the Main River. For years it was a seedy, mediocre restaurant. Now the view is complemen
We visited soon after the restaurant reopened. Hopefully our disappointment was a result of reopening pains. On the positive side, the restaurant has probably the best view of the Main Valley. As before the renovation, it is always filled to capacity. The redesigned outdoor seating area has several safety hazards that could lead to serious falls. These are so obvious that it is hard to understand why they are still there. The wait staff was the usual mixed bag. Some employees are eager to please while others seem permanently annoyed by customers. They employed new electronic devices to take and manage the orders. Perhaps it was the lack of experience with them, but the order taking took about double the time that paper and pencil would. The menu is surprisingly limited despite the enlarged dining area and kitchen. Prices are somewhat higher than merited by the quality and service. Four of us met there to eat and each tried a different dish. While all were satisfactory, none stood out as anything out of the ordinary for Gasthaus fare. Portion sizes were adequate. I am reluctant to blame next-day digestive disturbances to a specific meal or place. Often there is no provable link. Let me just say that each of the four of us had the same unpleasant digestive symptoms the next day and the Vogelsburg meal was the only meal we took in common.Despite the splendid view and generally pleasant facilities, there were so many problems that I cannot rate this restaurant as even average.

This is by far one of the best Italian restaurants that I have been to.A small restaurant located in the east side of the river just down from the bridge.Started out with the antipasti and was blown away with the number of plates and the quality of food that we had. You must, must, must try the antipasti it is simply amazing. We moved into spaghetti started and amazing ravioli with spinach and mushrooms. By this time we had eaten so much food that we split the main course which was salmon which was cooked to perfection. Of course we had to split the desert and it was a wonderful chocolate mousse that was lite and just the perfect flavor of chocolate. Of course we had wine, the selection was great and the prices are fantastic.

I visited Volkach with family and friends and stopped at Hinterhoefle for dinner. The town was very busy with a lot of people enjoying the pleasant weather. I had a salad that was very large and well seasoned and have some beer. Others in my party had typical entrees. Quality of food and service were good. A little more expensive than other restaurants in small towns around Bavaria, but it worth.

It is a good restaurant. Not so much typical German, choices are good, not a lot. which is fine. the carpaccio was quite off from carpaccio. was ok.

We enjoyed a meal on the terrace. Typical German (or better Franconian) stuff: good schnitzel. The wines by glass we enjoyed are good to very good and sold in 0,25l glasses - which is rather common in zgermany but not where I am from - from good local producers. Fair bill, friendly service and view on the monastery.

Stopped in this wonderfull little town in Franken for a break and to have lunch. When we found Torbach, we were happy to experience a very nice athmosphere as well as an excellent food and wine selection. The restaurant was very authentic and you could easily imagine turning your clock back a century. So try it if you're in this area.

The restaurant is crowded during the week-ends. The menu selection is varied. The portions are large and plentiful. The quality of the food is mediocre, often over seasoned.

enjoy the personal reception by the landlord, his recommendations and his jokes and humour(unfortunately only in the local dialect), savour the excellent fish and meats and taste their local wines. the bill will leave you enough to offer the gentle waiters a generous tip. simply enjoy!

We eat at the Weissen Lamm several times each year. It is always a superior meal. There are two dining rooms on the ground floor decorated in typical Gasthaus style. On the first floor are larger dining rooms used for bigger groups. The restaurant is especially known for its Duck, Goose and Schäufele. We had the latter. What we have noticed on our last few visits is that the portion size is shrinking and the prices creeping up. Still, the meal is filling for non-gluttons and not unreasonably expensive. The service is rushed but mostly efficient. The restaurant offers a good selection of their own wines. They are reliable from year to year, if not among the town's very best. The restaurant has a large and loyal following. Reservations are usually necessary.
