The hotel is located smack-dab in the middle of panoramic scenery with hiking and bicycling possibilities galore. It is like Disneyland for the nature buffs. If you like to spoil yourselves with regional specialties, this is the place to come. It is tucked away in a village but many places are close by. The traditional Bravrarain clothing and decorations inside and out complete the image. The customer service was very good, but I think they were understaffed and under pressure since they had a full house inside and out, plus all of the guests room occupied. the place seems popular but they shouldn't try to lack or cut back in this area otherwise they might need a customer recovery program.

Because we were staying here and we don't like to drive at night, dining here was the perfect solution. We were offered either an English menu or German menu. We read and speak German so German it was. It was our first evening in southern Germany so we both chose a schnitzel. A nice salad was brought to us along with a bowl of potato salad. Then the schnitzel with the pommes frites followed. We were pleased with that night as well as the next two nights.

This restaurant definitely deserves its place in the Michelin guide. The decor is contemporary yet warm and there is a nice terrace in the back that is shielded from the sun by vines. The staff is very professional (but not snobby), efficient and attentive. The food is delicious! Regional dishes prepared with a skilled hand. Nice presentation, without the food just being piled on the plates. Simply, wonderful cuisine.

I was just ordering a "Schweizer Wurstsalat" - "Swiss Sausage Salad", which is a speciality in southern Germany, Swiss and Austria. I had a perfect dark beer with it - and I was so happy with this experience. Love to come more often!
However, the staff is welcoming and the service is good. Prices were a bit on the high side for what you get, but over all the food was well prepared with fresh ingredients.

We went there without a reservation and just got the last table. We ordered a local wine (OK), Wiener schnitzel (excellent) and pork medallions (excellent). We both also ordered potato salad and fried onions (again both excellent). The presentation was outstanding. The greeting was friendly and we were immediately recognised as British, spoken to in English and given an English menu, although the specials were only in German which our host translated for us.The atmosphere inside is of a traditional Bavarian restaurant (a very busy one!) and remember it only opens at 5pm and is closed on a Monday. We will return for one of the best meals we've had for a while.
I have heard that Gasthaus zur Traube is recommended in the Marco Polo guide. The cuisine is excellent. I had a salad, veal stroganoff and a salad which is served with fresh hash browned potatoes nicely presented as a side dish in a pan. This is one of their specialties and they seem to have many regulars. The atmosphere is country style, and simple but nicely decorated. The chef was very presentable a greeted us and had to time talk as we left. The customer service is family oriented and down to earth. Close by to the restaurant are great hiking areas like the Ice Tobel in Isny or the Scwarze Grad.

This restaurant has a very nice patio to enjoy your meal. On cool evenings, seat cushions are provided, as well as lap blankets. I had been traveling over a week and was craving something green. The menu has many delicious salads from which to choose. I had a chef's salad with beets, carrots, cucumber, ham, Swiss cheese, and the house dressing, accompanied by delicious chewy bread. My dining partners had pizza and sandwiches. Also on the menu are regional favorites and pastas. You will not be disappointed!

We had several meals here, It was always nicely prepared and very good, sitting on the terrace outside looking on the sea! In Germany you had the expression "Gut Bürgerlich", this is a level higher, even if it is not gourmet. Highly recommended! As for wine they had a choice of open wines, but they were all of a rather simple quality. Also wines in bottle were limited in choice. Draft beer is good here. Service friendly. But it must be said: In this place the prices are low, so value for money is very good.

Visited Scheidegg because of a family celebration. We went to that Restaurant in a group of eleven. Everyone was satisfied with the food. I had the fillet steak from an Allgäu Cow (Allgäu is the region) which was slightly overcooked but the quality was excellent. Gluten Free options are available which is great for allergic people. Service is good. Servers wear typical Bavarian dresses (Dirndl) which is very authentic. It is a bit more pricy compared to other restaurants in Scheidegg but absolutely reasonable. Can recommend this restaurant.
