I don't know if J.P. Morgan actually said "If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it," but here he'd say, "If you have to ask the price, you're at Ambrosia."
No prices are posted.
That's right -- no prices listed anywhere.
I give them 6 stars for artistry alone. Their creations are truly stunning! But I also give them 0 stars for causing severe sticker shock. So my over-all rating is three stars.
Ambrosia is located at the south end of the Foundry Shopping Center -- plenty of free parking

My brothers and I met for dinner on Saturday night. We made reservations for 5pm and we were seated promptly. the front of the restaurant seems small and quaint, but it extends into a whole other room with plenty of seating. I was expecting more of an extensive wine list but they had they basics. We order the calamari fires which were excellent. the side salads left something to be desired. I felt like they threw all the ingredients into a blender on high. My brother hates tomatoes and had a hard time digging them out. I built my own pasta with penne, marinara, mushrooms and spinach. the marinara was bland but the meal was huge. I can always spice up the leftovers. My brothers had... one was a fish dish with linguine he said it was excellent, the other was a chicken breast with spinach, prosciutto and angel hair. Also very good. The 3 of us split a HUGE piece of Banana Cake! 2 thumbs up!

Yes, there are alternatives to Starbucks Coffee and Cook Street Coffee is a very good one. They sell all of the typical traditional espresso drinks - cappuccino, latte, machiato, cortado, single and doppio, They strive for locally sourced and fresh quality ingredients and even tout their use of Madagascar vanilla, which is one of the best. Besides the coffee drinks, they also serve panininis, if you are looking for something to eat. Cook Street Coffee is only a short distance to the Barrington Metra Station, so this can be a great place to stop in the morning, for that rush hour coffee and that lunch panini. The staff is personable and quite efficient. It never seems to be a long wait.

Went here on a Saturday night. Place was crowded but there were still plenty of empty tables so I got seated right away. Got the Fajita burrito, it was delicious! Like one of the best burritos I've ever had. Chips it came with were good too. The margarita was OK, but was a big size for the price which was good.
Service, it started out fine. However when I had finished half my burrito and all of my margarita, they only asked if I wanted a box for burrito, not if I wanted another drink, which I did. Well, if they wanted me to leave and not give them more money, then I was happy to oblige them.

Solid service and quality and two choices on each sandwich as to how large you need it. Competitive deli shop prices and Great to grab and go or sit looking at the street traffic. Skipping the soup is not a loss.

We enjoy the food and service at this local restaurant. It is a comfortable, upscale Italian restaurant that typically offers a number of seafood and pasta specials. Quality of food is good, portions average size and well made. They do a great job with pasta dishes, as well as the always delicious Veal or Chicken Parmesan. Would recommend dining here.

Tons of great options on the menu, not just sushi (but the sushi is great)! Great drink options too! Definitely go for the black rice - so yummy!

I was interested in the diverse reactions people have had to this restaurant. Then I ate here and now I understand.
If you are comfortable with a dessert menu that describes its offerings with words like "salt" and "balsamic," then this place is for you. If you just want, say, a piece of chocolate cake, go somewhere else.
My husband ordered the pork loin and raved about the different textures and subtle flavors. I had the cheese ravioli with a few tiny scallops and a covering of arugula. I do understand why people put fresh greens on hot food.
The food was not bad but, if I never eat here again, I will not be sad. My husband, on the other hand, would like to return. He'll just need to find another wife to go with him.
Our server was prompt and helpful. The background music maybe something that could be described as techno lite? My husband thought it was fine. I thought it could have been even lite-r.
