Cabana's beach bar & restaurant

Cabana's Beach Bar & Restaurant is the perfect setting for a day on the beach with excellent food, free sunbeds and free wifi. In the evening it is the perfect location for your a la carte dinner whilst watching the beautiful sunset

This place offers free sunbeds when buying food and drinks. Excellent fresh cooked meal, in my opinion the best I’ve eaten in the Gambia. Cold draft beer on the +35C sunny beach is magnificent experience! Excellent and very friendly beach and food service! All intrusive sellers are banned by the guards and this is especially important in the Gambia tourist areas. Excellent ocean view, unbelievably beautiful at sunset. Three times a week they have live music, not loud, not disturbing (as opposite to many other places featuring loud drums), so you can still relax while they are playing. The only minus is that property is relatively small, so most of the time beach is crowded, most of “good places” are being reserved by that bunch of oldies spending there every day so you have not a chance to get a good place no matter how early you come there. We were visiting this place many times a week and were always happy with food and service.Thank you for your feedback. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your time with us. It's our first year running Cabana's so all feedback is very useful. We will ensure that the beach is more accessible to everybody next year and beds will be allocated on a first come first served basis which is fair for everybody. We hope to see you again very soon.

Went here for breakfast after seeing the full English - don't bother ! Poor quality of food not good at all.We came here for drinks and the cocktails were good , glad we didn't eat here for an evening meal i think we would have been very disappointed. Service was poor , coffee luke warm , mushrooms were tinned like slime, hash browns ?? they were fish of some kind mashed up and deep fried.

Tapa Loca

I don’t know quite how to review this. I went the first time and had an excellent meal which made me go back. After the second time, I said never again. One difference was the main chef was off duty for my second meal and I’d strongly recommend walking out if you find this is the case. My review scores for the two meals would be 4 and 2, so I’ve split the difference.Meal 1: Prices are very reasonable here and the fillet steak with blue cheese sauce was really tasty if not over-large. Very good food and excellent value and service, though drinks are over-priced for the area. As for atmosphere, it’s set back from the highway next door to Right Choice supermarket, most of the way from Senegambia to Palma Rima, and it can get chilly in the evening if a wind is blowing.Meal 2: I went back a few nights later, determined to try the Spanish food and was offered a much-reduced menu with no steaks at all. I called the owner and he told me the assistant chef would cook tasty food, but didn’t know how to make all the different sauces. I went for simple things I hoped anyone could cook, a Spanish omelet, followed by fish and chips with tartare sauce. Only one other table was occupied, but I waited an age for the omelet, which tasted fine. I’d eaten about a third of it when the fish and chips were plonked on the table to go cold. There was no tartare sauce. I called the waiter and asked and he returned (after I’d eaten most of the fish) with a bowl of what looked like tartare sauce, but tasted nothing like it.I won’t risk going back here with plenty of other good places to eat. However, other reviews are good, so it may just be that assistant chef.Thank you for coming twice to our place.Thats make us believe that you enjoyed .Its the usual way our restaurant is.You were so happy so you came back.Unfortunately our main chef was unable to come due to a funeral in your second visit. We hope you take your first visit as example of you can find here.Thank you for your comments.
