Went one night for evening meal and was left waiting for 15 mins and only then, after we had asked for service, did someone come. We decided to leave without ordering as there appeared to be a long delay, even though they were not busy. We went another evening and the service was again terrible and we noted other diners had simila problems Tried decided to give them a third chance, this time at breakfast time - it was ok but then again, we were the only people there!! Wouldn't go again unless they upped their gear!

Probably the closest you will come to local food - they serve Domada, Benechin, Yassa - all given a European twist and served very well - also the Captain Fish with lime sauce is equally good - service is very friendly and good if not busy. The only downside - very loud live music comprising 90% drumming starts at about 9-ish - this may be attractive to some - but not if you have unimpaired hearing!!!

Visited Smiling Coast Guesthouse just the once during our stay and wished we'd had more time in The Gambia to go back again. The atmosphere was wonderful, the owner quirky and so friendly and the music and locals were fab.Enjoyed dancing on the mosaic tiled 'dancing floor' where even the tiles welcome you!!!Great prices and even better welcome.

I have visited Kotu very many times and although enjoyed a beer at the bar here, never actually eaten there before. We were persuaded to try the Wednesday night "all you can eat buffet" at 500dalasai and were amazed at how good the food was. So much so we ate there on 3 more occasions too. Give it a try, not the most appealing dining area but the foods good!Hi,I am so glad you enjoyed our food, especially our buffet night. We have been working on our new menu this season and are getting very positive feedback which is lovely for our chefs to see.

Thanks for hospitality recent visit, there for six nations Rugby, complementary olives and peanuts also bottle Julbrew! Thank you such gratitude.Friendly happy staff, have to mention the great security man!Great choice of menu and meals deliscious and plentiful, we even had enough to take away nicely packaged for the airport.We will be back when next visit.Great sports bar, loads of screens, brill air con, or dine out. We have enjoyed coming to Mr Bass since 2010 for the very good free evening musical entertainment, the football on tv and the good value food. I am especially fond of the seafood pizza with live football and a cold Julbrew. The atmosphere is always very good with the local lads coming for the football and plenty of local people enjoying the music as well as us tourists.Just a short walk from the three Cape Point Hotels, Mr Bass is a handy local for an early evening or even a late night drink when we have been elsewhere for dinner.And the new and massively improved lavatory facilities were a bonus this year!

I have been coming to Gambia for a number of years with friends.On this occasion I was eating on my own and did not welcome the manager hugging me across the shoulder..too familiar for someone I've never met before.I ordered a chicken dish and the chicken was so tough I couldn't finish it.One place to avoid.

My husband and I visited Solomon's 4 or 5 times during our stay in Kotu. This is a friendly place with a great view. Drinks were served quickly. We ate here one night. I chose the Potato dish and my husband had a fish dish. Both meals were fantastic, but were a little slow arriving. We were given a complimentary garlic bread whilst we waited.We had great service from Buba, and also some fascinating conversation. Well worth a visit to Solomons

After going for an evening meal I have to say I was extremely disappointed the staff were quite rude and the meal took ages to come .. this wasnât one of the great experiences of The Gambia for sure .. they need to remember itâs the smiling capital !

We ate at the Calypso four times and also visited for the live music on Sunday afternoon. If you are a guest at the Ocean Bay Hotel next door you will consider yourselves extremely fortunate to have such a fantastic restaurant on your doorstep. The food was delightful and the staff just lovely. Go once and I bet you'll go again.
